30MHz is way past its 3db range. Feeding it a 5MHz Sine wave and noting its peek to peek level then winding up the generator until this peek to peek falls to 0.707 of its original 5MHz level..... that will be its upper bandwidth (For a Sinewave, Square wave bandwidth would be a lot lot lower)

That scope came out during the 70s where I was a metrology technician in the Air Force and use to calibrate and repair those scopes along with a wide array of other test equipment. HP wasn't known for their scopes. Their specialty was RF equipment.

Thanks for this info. The battery charger my friend loaned me has different modes: Standard, Wet, Gel and afew others. Which mode should I use? Also, earlier today before I found your video, she tried charging the battery in the back of my 2013 Prius and it didn't work. She attached the black ground to the bolt on the bracket that holds battery in place. Was that too close to the red? I unplugged charger and got a slight shock when I removed red cable from terminal. Thanks for your help on this, I need to drive my car asap!

I called the auto store and they said gel mode. I plugged in in and charger just says Low V with exclamation mark flashing underneath it. What does this mean? also I noticed the battery in back does have a negative terminal, but it was covered w the plastic shield....should my friend have connected the black end into that earlier today, rather than a bolt on battery bracket?

Disconnect the black wire from the battery if possible. Then connect the charger. Run it about 4 to 6 hours on standard. Reconnect the battery black wire. Prius should start. With the Black wire, which goes to the battery disconnected ignore the black wire, which is now disconnected and connect the black wire of the charger to where the black wire was connected on the battery. Connect the red wire to the red connection on the battery. Let this charge for about six hours , then remove the charger reconnect the black wire to the battery and start the Prius. The reason the Prius battery will not charge is the black wire is still connected and the black wire is allowing the charger energy to flow into the Prius and not charge the battery. This is the whole point of the video to disconnect one of the wires on the battery first so the battery may charge on its own. The battery has to be disconnected from the Prius and charged independently of the Prius. The battery can still sit in the Prius, but one of the wires has to be disconnected. Then the battery is charged. The battery is charged after six hours. The wire is reconnected and the Prius started if this situation does not work for you. You need to copy the number of the battery down. Take a picture of the battery and go to the Prius dealer and get a new battery and bring that battery home and replace the battery in the Prius, the Prius will start. The battery probably cost between two and $300 at the Prius dealer but first disconnect one of the wires then charge the battery for six hours maybe eight hours or even overnight and then reconnect the wire after the charger is disconnected and the Prius should light up and start

Not sure who designed this abomination of a thing. It’s horrible to hear that awful screeching sound. Humans have evolved for over 2M years to sniff smoke and wake up and run for cover. That’s what the olfactory tubes are for. Now for the monoxide, I can’t think of anything other than a car running in a closed garage and that again should be obvious to any fool. So again, this thing is a giant scam in America

Hello!, i have the same receiver that I've been messing around with on now for a few months. One huge improvement to SSB in terms of drift is replacing the 6V6 tube and installing a solid state regulator. I constructed mine out of one LM317 and one LM337 with a few resistors and a tall heat sink inserted to an 8 pin socket, came out very neat looking. google solid state 4H4 -C Filament regulator, they have some interesting schematics online. thanks!

Now your after removing the protection to your tubes , low wattage resistor was acting like fast blowing fuse in the HV to tubes , crazy going 100 watts youll really blow it now and next bang will be a big one. CHECK YOUR 1000uf 5kv doorknob cap its probably cracked
@moviestudioland
@moviestudioland 10 күн бұрын
That crap resistor was HARD to change where they put it. The 10 watt ,5 resistor is not burning up or smelling now. If the tubes blow they blow. On AM I do not ask more than 200 watts carrier from the AMP. On SSB I go to SSB voltage and open it up wide. NO bangs or booms lately. The amp IS for sale on eBay. This amp is a daily driver.

already moved the resistor. Amp is running fine. Only ONE boom so far and breakers in the house remained closed and Harbach HV board survived. Well you can save the amp from ME and give it a good home. Look for it on eBay.

Took me two days and three different special wrenches to get those off. Your idea is better. I think someone had put holes in the top as I could see holes when I replaced the shock tower. After that ,bolt top in then pry upper control arm up while forcing lower C arm dowm with long pry bar, or pipe...2 day job for me, and today Im going to do the right hand side.!!!! UG!

Jeff: to me the agc action is too fast - did a web search and found this from AM window web site (excerpt) Second, listening to CW or SSB was really hard on the ear, as signals were quite distorted except when the manual RF gain control was turned way down. A look at the schematic told the story: there was probably way too much IF injection on the grid of V8, the 6BE6 oscillator/detector, and that resulted in significant audio distortion. The fixes for both these deficiencies turned out to be relatively simple. To improve AGC action a 0.56 cap was installed from pin 7 of V9 (grid of the S-meter amplifier) to ground to smooth the S-meter movement and a second 0.56 cap was installed from the AGC bus to ground at pin 3 of the accessory socket. The product detector distortion was resolved with the addition of a 100 pf cap from pin 7 of V8 to ground, thus significantly reducing the IF injection level.

Ah thanks. And yet the best knowledge was the engineers at Ten Tec who designed all this stuff in the first place. I just piece it together with parts swaping and guess work and I try to leave a bread crumb trail to help those who may follow this path. Probably YEARS later someone will discover this video and need to know this stuff. Ten Tec outlines HOW this stuff works in their service manual for the Paragon. Reading the manual about the PLL and VCO I do admit is it is very complex and I do not totally understand it and do not understand WHY it was so complicated. What is interesting is the PLL chips on the minor and major loop boards are similar circuits somewhat. I almost destroyed the VCO oscillator on the minor loop trying to remove the metal cover on it. I am just GLAD I got it working now and just put the bottom cover onto the minor loop board - ( it is a shield cover ), soldered that on and closed up the rig over those three boards. Closed the tomb and may they rest in there ( and of course operate and do the PLL thing ) in peace....
