A detailed look at a huge 84 pound Lego Haul I picked up online. Lot 003 from Florida was an amazing find and took many days to break down. The world of buying used LEGO elements online can be a tricky gamble. Even with good pictures, you never know what you are going to get. In this video we will focus on what it is like to break down and sort through an incoming collection of used LEGO bricks, the tools and tricks I use to get the job done, and the stunning LEGO brick visuals you get when breaking down by similar kind or shape. Every individual incoming item and genuine LEGO element is examined to determine if it meets certain quality standards and to identify and root out all generic non LEGO blocks, pieces and foreign toys. My breakdown setup uses five Husky organizers which I have posted links to below.
Foreign bricks and toys are always a common sight in any LEGO collection; these things and so many other clues start to reveal what I call LEGO Forensics. There is a story behind every LEGO collection, and one's collection tells a detailed story. We will explore and expand on this idea going forward so stay tuned for more LEGO Forensic videos in the future! Hit the SUBSCRIBE button to be a part of this, it costs nothing.
Be sure you check out the entire breakdown shown at Full Timelapse speed - • Sorting Lego - Full Ti... This very detailed look at the entire breakdown and will provoke thoughts in your head similar to the thoughts I receive when breaking down and working through such an organizing effort. Let you mind wander with deep thoughts and enjoy the breakdown.

Melted Lego? Wow, this is wild! I am afraid to buy bulk, I am too picky and just imagining a dirty brick from somebody else freaks me out, haha, but super excited for you! Great job sorting!!!! Loved the set up!

Haha! Most of the collections I’ve purchased recently have bricks that look brand new, assembled only once or a few times. There is a whole bathing and sanitizing process involved for lots that require it. But that’s for another video! These bricks were super clean!

If some day I buy a bulk of used lego, I will look for megablocks tank treads first. My fucking god, I never imagined this could even happen.

Thank you for this and your other haul/sorting videos! I also buy used LEGO pieces, mostly at my local thrift store, and I love the way this and other videos you've posted hits on some of my favourite parts of the practice: musing over foreign objects and painting a mental picture of the former owners, the zen of sorting, and neat LEGO surprises. Thank you again for sharing!

You have inspired me to take steps toward my lost art of sorting LEGO. It has been awhile for me, and now it is time to start again. Thank you so much for the thoughtful comment, and for the motivation to do more videos like these. All the best on your LEGO journey! 😎

that gold spiked ball with the black rubber stripe in the 'non lego' pile is actually a bionicle piece :)

🙏🏼Thank you so much for spotting that!! 😃 I am going to fish out that gold spiked ball now. I keep all the ‘non Lego’ stuff, separated by lot, for this exact reason. So glad you are out there to spot it! You have a good eye and amazing Lego knowledge! 😁😉😎👊🏽

you sorted out a lego Mars mission alien and the corresponding stretcher in the non lego and a bionicle ammo piece(it's the rubber gold ball with spikes and a black plastic band across the middle)

Good eye! You are right! Fortunately, I keep all the assumed non-LEGO in a bag separated by lot. I will fish out those elements when I get the chance. I really appreciate you watching this and letting me know! You clearly have great LEGO knowledge my friend! 👍😎🙌

It’s not melted lol it’s Bite marks hungry kids playing with Lego. Come across all these things interesting how sorting is different from one to another.

Some of the LEGO elements were actually soft. I found a chemical reaction that had taken place from non LEGO products mixed into the LEGO bulk. Yes, melting from heat would require very hot temperatures, but a chemical reaction from moderate heat and other inferior plastics was noticed. Bite marks are obvious, but when I pulled some rubber tank tracks from another toy out of the LEGO element, it was clear the two plastics interacted with each other. Just an observation while sorting this one bulk lot.
