Good works Olly, awesome find! One never knows what you may find when you go looking for Rust in small spaces around wheel wells. Just a thought, have you removed the rear trunk interior panels to investigate rust on the backside of the wheel well. I have a 2004 EP3, have not ever checked into this. Your video has motivated me to check it out. Well Done, Thanks!

Thanks man! I am glad I could help you out. I actually have another "Rust" video on the inside of the rear arches. When I did that, you could see that basically all of the wheel well was alright. I've been doing this lately. I got nearly complete coverage with the brush on kurust. You just have to keep sticking your phone in the hole to recored your progress as its a totally blind job. The shorter the handle on the brush the better! I also got a waxoyl pressure washer with a bendy hose which was Ideal to get in the tight areas.

That’s only what you can see, trust me just restored my 30th Ep3 and there are many more areas hidden that are only fixed by a full chassis strip and restoration. If you have rust there that’s already gone too far in other areas. It’s sad but these care are rotting from the inside out get a camera inside your chassis legs. Strip the chassis back to bare metal re seam seal and protect properly. Strip the carpets out and plastics takes a few hours but you will know where you stand guys
@jamesp111rks

Hey Nathan. I'm doing this exact same job on my Cosmic EP3. Which chassis legs would you advise we look at first? Do you mean front bumper to bulkhead?
@natel5370
@natel5370 3 жыл бұрын
@@jamesp111rks yep remove bumper bars front and rear and replace,they will no doubt be rusty the rear will be for sure. Get an inspection camera in there. Also remove all side skirts take the interior out take the carpets completely out and the sound deadening sponge material in the foot wells and check the floor pans especially in the footwell area where the front and rear floors join. Just checking behind panels isn’t enough it’s easy to strip the interior then all is there to see if issues, no point doing half a job on these cars go all in. I went bare metal floor pan underneath and also removed all old seam seal and re did it all with help of a proper Dinitrol chassis restoration specialist it’s future proofed now but my chassis place have turned away many EP3s that on close inspection were to far gone sills floors can be changed but rust deep in seams and chassis is game over. Hope this helps and it’s not cheap but worth it but go all in

A good brush-on rust converter that may have made this a little easier (had you not have had previous leftovers!) would be Vactan (a little goes a long way so its cost effective too. I've had good success on my ST wheel arches with it, and its easy to then painted over (I used black Hammerite), just for anyone else looking for a spray alternative. @@colinrobinson4327 I think its a mixture of the wheel arch liners and the clips that hold the side skirt in. Yeah, I put a bit of sealant on the clips. You are the same as me then! I wanted one for years too! So, yeah, pretty much all of them do have rust.
