In this tutorial, Dubspot sound design instructor and course designer Evan Sutton (aka Astrolith) demonstrates how to make funky lead sounds using Native Instruments' newest software synthesizer, Monark, which is modeled after the iconic the Minimoog monophonic analog synthesizer.
Native Instruments is well known for making some of the best soft synths around, and the company has had a hand in defining the sound of digital synthesis. They are not strangers to the analog modeling world, however (remember Pro-53?), and are jumping back in head first with their newest offering, Monark. In this tutorial, I will show you some techniques for creating a buttery, funky lead sound using Monark. This is a straight forward synthesizer, so we'll keep it simple with just the right amount of glide, vibrato, and feedback. - Evan Sutton

Hey, any chance that there will be any classes available (online) that feature FL, or at least would be acceptable to take using FL even if its not what the instructor is using?

Good tut! Some honest opinion? Whats the better buy for synths/'n nasty basses? Retro mashinesmk2?Or the newer monark? Retro looks like having more with the package.. But monark sounds more quality to me?
@IanAlderige
@IanAlderige 10 жыл бұрын
they are different beasts, retro is a sample based instrument with limited modulation while monark is as analog emulator, I have them both and I like them just fine. If you want something much better get Arturia's Mini V which is a fantastic emulation of the mini moog with a ton of added features. It costs about the same. Hope this helps.

IanAlderige Hey ian, hm, sample based,no thanks thenn haha. Thanks for the helping hand man. Highly appreciated! Isnt that miniv based on the minimoog synth? I recently got monark when Ni trow a deal at me. I like it but razor is still more in my (prefered)range.. Whats your opinion? Or ask&add my skype or so. Thanks for the effort anyways man!
@IanAlderige
@IanAlderige 10 жыл бұрын
haven't messed with razor yet but from listening to the demos it looks like NI's answer to another synth called Blade by Rob Papen which I have used for a while and found it to be a superb instrument. It all really boils down to what kind of sound you're after man there is a ton of good stuff out there.

man I never comment on KZfaq but seriously, this shit is so funky I just have to. if I could be funky as that I would do absolutely nothing else. like ever. period.on a more serious note, is there anyway to get a hold of that Live Session to experiment with? or do you actually have like a "funky class" on Dubspot one can buy for online viewing? (live on the other side of the world so New York is not really an option...)cheers for sharing!
