Your quick switches between legato and retriggering the envelope is on point. It's no cakewalk ( I practice as much as possible).

In my opinion dynanic variation is always the key to keeping the listener on their toes. If its there use it . I watch the way guitar guys bend there fingers along the fret board. Brass players vary their mouth shape. So keyboard players have the power to add that dynamic range too.
