Hi Clark. Thanks for sharing that piece with me! I wasn't familiar with it and it's excellent! Okay, I don't like admitting defeat but I'm really not sure. It's being played with other wooden sounds of various pitches (sounding a little like vintage Japanese temple blocks to me). It might also be a 'cajita' box instrument. I hear a glissando played on the wooden instrument around 3:25 which sounds like closing the lid of a cajita. But the buzzing sound I can't quite place - it sustains longer than the other wood block like sounds. I like your description - it's spot on! I'm sorry I couldn't help more.

Hi Brett. There's a Dorothy Ashby song called Little Sunflower that I've been trying to figure out which instrument has been used to create a sound. It sounds like a ruler being twanged against the edge of a desk. You can hear it on the opening 10 seconds or so of the track very clearly. If you know of the instrument, please let me know :)

I did some more digging over the last few months and going by the Caribbean elements on the album I think it's probably a Marimbula, which is being used for the tone and possibly even some percussion as people seem to play them whilst sitting on them and slapping the sides too.

The frog would have been more fun to use in kinder instead of the crow sounder I got and didnt know what it even was. The teacher never showed me what it did. So I threw it in the trash and she went: 'No, no, NO!! scaring me that I went to sit down on the other side of the room all bummed out. She might as well have put on a Scream mask and chased me around the room. I have hated that thing ever since and cant stand to even look at one.

Is there something I can do to my cereal bowls singing? You should do craft videos for kids making maybe that wooden thing. I am allldegedly an adult but not very crafty so I would really like a kids video so I will think I can do it.
