Thanks, well I live in Russia these days :) Not too difficult here. If I was still living in Europe I would have to change the exhaust manifolds every year for the inspection. With the valves closed the exhaust is actually not loud at all to drive normally, pretty quiet even.

Usually yes. A tune turns it off.

How about the o2 extenders? Would it get the job done? Since I don’t want to mess with the ecu

@@keithwhk08 I’m planning to install fabS race headers but I’m wondering if CEL will appear & i don’t want to tune the car, any chance to remove it with the ECU? & does it effect the car?

@@nawras65why would you install race headers and not tune the car? The car won’t really run correctly without a tune and you won’t be taking advantage of the extra flow of the headers.

is this too loud with valve closed ? or tolerable. I have custom titanium exhaust w Fabspeed race headers, its way too loud , the neighbors aren't happy. 😣

Its quiet valves closed but you have to somehow mechanically force the valves closed or they open anyway. A tune that disables the cold start cat warmup sequence would probably make your car more neighbour friendly. It's the warmup that makes a huge racket.

How did you keep the valves closed at wide open throttle? Metal wire how?

Wrap metal wire around the valve actuator so it can't move to the open position

@drkstr7 Well it's the only way, but it is not perfect because there is a lot of backpressure in the exhaust this way robbing you of some power. But it's better than being kicked off the track :)

No these were short tube back in the day, but I would not expect a big difference in sound. Its loud AF either way

@@JCviggen1 Thank you! I ask because I listened to other 981 race header videos with PSE and it doesn't sound as high pitched. I love the high pitch so I'm wondering if it's because it was short. Appreciate it :)

Have you clocked it after mods? How does it now compare to the 718 GTS?

Depends on a lot of things, but a 718 GTS is still a little faster and it adapts to the weather and altitude to always make 365HP no matter what. Naturally aspirated cars can't do that but anyway in good conditions it's pretty close. My car is roughly equal to a GT4 from 0-100 and 0-200 thanks to PDK and 371PS n/a.

JCviggen1 kills me when the 718 owners say the new cayman is better in every way..what a lie! Their just trying to make themselves fell good about there purchase. The only are they area they are getting killed is in resale! The flat 6 is holding much better value.

@@kmartin971 True, the gap grows a little the longer it goes on but I have driven a 718GTS on track and purely by seat of the pants it did not feel significantly faster when you're just flooring it and shifting at very high RPM all the time. It obviously has more torque out of corners but my mods almost make up for the difference and the result is a nicer engine even if not quite as strong as in the 718.

JCviggen1 seems to me the upside on mods on flat 6 is significantly higher than a 718. The 718 already has turbo and high torque..how much higher can you go? Have you tried Cobb tuner or a vivid racing tuner?
