Would be seriously awesome if you could add a 2nd arpeggiator module for a dual arp mode, especially for use with drums… Love Soundpaint btw. Has become my go-to for the last 5-6 months. Outstanding instrument with potential to stand the test of time as long as you keep it alive.

You know what would be a really cool arp mode: a built in shepard tone generator for any sound. It could work like this: Shepard tones are auditory illusions, that give an imperssion of infinitely ascending (or descending) succession of tones. It's created by playing a scale simultaneously on three pitches at the same time, an octave apart. The highest and lowest pitches have lowest volume, adjusting the volume depending on how far they are from the mid. I believe you could do this with an arp playing over three or more octaves. Just give a root note and scale (or specify a scale by giving all its notes starting from the root, as if it was a single chord with a closed voicing), and the mode would add a note an octave below and above it, play them arpeggiated, and adjust the dynamics as necessary. With the key stretch mode, you could do this with any sound. Btw, is it possible to extend the duration of an arpeggiated note? E.g. C-E-G would be played as C & G as eight notes, and E as a quarter note?

Cool idea. We do have a great amount of Shepards Tone content that we will be porting over, but could be fun to create an effect for it or something. You could probably do it using LFOs on pitch and volume, but ... might be a little bit involved.
@outolumo
@outolumo Жыл бұрын
@@Soundpaintmusic Might be a bit involved, but I believe within the capabilities of Soundpaint - and with a potential of turning *any* sound into a shepard tone, leave everything else in dust, when it comes to creating impressions of ever evolving soundscapes :)

So, just about the best arpeggiator/sequencer out there. It even has the hold function for that old school feel. Glorious! I don't know if this records the midi into the door (midi out), I guess not or you'd have mentioned it. That's a really useful feature for refining and varying things in the edit. (Without that I'll still mostly be using an external arp or sequencer for recording.) Regardless, I'm suitable wowed by this. So much better than I dared to hope with everything else on offer, and a really inspiring addition to the creative process.

I bought Soundpaint a few days ago and am absolutely blown away! This technology has huge potential. May I ask for some advice - I couldn't help noticing the huge collection of drum libraries in your browser. Are these 8DIO libraries and will Soundpaint read them? Or are they coming to Soundpaint in the future? Thought I'd ask as I didn't want to buy an 8DIO library and find it doesn't work in Soundpaint.

love this engine! if you're looking to add more features, I'd love to be able to control the rate of the arp and gate freely-- not synced to the daw or on a defined beat-- but man, you guys really piled in the features-- and the instruments are immaculate!

This thing looks great. I want to know what you mean when you keep saying that instruments in this thing have all the velocity layers. I get that most sample libraries are limited by how many velocities they actually sample (record) and sometimes you get "jumps" that sound unnatural. How is this instrument/platform different? Are you not using samples? is it all algorithmic like modo drums and modo bass?

Thanks Troels, I always enjoy your videos. Something I have been looking for lately is the possibility to gradually alter the gate speed independently from the DAW tempo, and to assign this to an LFO or to CC1. I've been trying with time stretch but it didn't work. Any suggestions?
@Soundpaintmusic
@Soundpaintmusic Жыл бұрын
Interesting. So you wanna be able to modulate the tempo in Effects > Gate. We will look into that and implement if its not too CPU crazy. For now - the closest thing to achieve this effect is probably to apply a Rack > LFO to Volume - and then make the Frequency of the LFO assigned to your Modwheel. Thats effectively the same thing as a gate.

While going over this tutorial, I noted that the play will not auto play. Excuse me for such a crazy question, but are you using a pedal to sustain it? It works for trigger--it will continuous play. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.
@Soundpaintmusic
@Soundpaintmusic 2 жыл бұрын
We have different play modes in the Arp. For example "Trigger Mode" will only trigger when I hold down my keys - whereas "Hold Mode" will always keep playing. Hold is great for inspiration and just trying things out, but without having to hold down keys.

Is making sound libraries for soundpaint going to be open to the public like it is with Kontakt or are users completely dependent on Soundpaint the company to grow their library? Id the latter, do you plan on partnering with library developers - what sort of toolkit is available for library developers.
@Soundpaintmusic
@Soundpaintmusic 2 жыл бұрын
Soundpaint is certainly going to be open. We just released our free USI tool on our Discord channel and soon to rest of the public. USI (User Sample Import) allows users to both import their own samples and shares programs too. So both Soundpaint and our USI Editor are free.
