Anyone else think that Bette should have gotten the Oscar for Best Actress ?
@nivbri3 ай бұрын
Yes! The mental fragility due to exhaustion and desperation for time off is powerful
@JorgePrietoNYCАй бұрын
Indeed. The mental and physical turmoil of the character in that film was not easy and Midler was believable in every scene. That final scene was heart wrenching.
@The70sChickАй бұрын
@@JorgePrietoNYC She gave one of the most powerful performances in film history and the Academy did an injustice to her by not voting her the winner. All due respect to Sally Field, (also a phenomenal actress in her role as Norma Rae) Bette put her heart and soul and guts into playing Janis Joplin, (literally the definition of heart,soul and guts) obviously not a part just anyone could play.

"The Rose" is a Classic Movie depicting supposedly the life of Janis Joplin ( and a few other famous Female Rock Stars of the 70's that many can think of that did "survive"). I have to say that Bette Midler was a "Top Notch" actress who played this role so greatly. Being A Popular "Rock n Roll" star seems to be difficult for many stars who seldom have any time to themselves once they have those "hit records", and being on call by Your Band and/or the Record Company would be a Great Demand. So, what about their personal lives and Love ? Ms. Middler does a class "A" job of depicting all this for us in this Movie. If You have never seen "The Rose", please buy a copy, and I will promise You that it will be in Your own private collection, "handy" to view and share with your Friends (Movie is intended for Adult Audiences)

I think of my Mum whenever I hear this song, she's still going strong at 80 but when we were kids she loved playing this song, it's a lovely memory.

Every single time I hear this song my ginger singer ass tears up like a toddler. The fabulous diva miss M has been one of the biggest influences of my life with music and my miracle baby girl's nickname from her nurse is even influenced by Miss Middler... We love you Gypsy Rose

I was in 11th grade in highschool ((Coral park)) and I got to see the movie because it was part of do not say no to drug program... It only took one time, and I've been seeing this movie over my adult years for a few times. now that I am in my late 50s I still love the movie and I think about my youth and say to myself what the heck happened.... ((I am so old)) Before I was after girls now I am after grandmother's... Lol Life is very precious and fast going because once you know it it's gone.. fill your life with positivity and stay away from situation that makes you frown...sending much love from Miami...
