i wouldn’t see how… it seems to only allow you to send midi to a max of two pedals. the midi hub supports like 5 or 6.

Typically, if not always, presets on midi controllable pedals are stored as a program change (PC) message, which means this would make presets a selectable option via the morningstar, or any programmable midi controller. Therefore, I don't think scrolling would be the only option. I don't have an SA pedal yet (going to get a True Spring now that this adaptor is released), so I can't be 100%, but I doubt they would give you MIDI control without PC messages being assigned to presets!

I have the same question! I just ordered a Morningstar MIDI Box and was hoping the regular 3.5mm TRS MIDI cables would work with my Ultra Wave and C4.

@@keatonrobinson2970 they replied to an email I sent a earlier this year, which said: “Yes, trs midi into the adapter will work, just make sure the morning star is set to type A trs midi and it should work.” But you’ll still need the adapter. I tried using the MC6 Pro’s USB host and that wouldn’t work either, so I bought the adapter. Haven’t tried it yet, but I see no reason it shouldn’t work.

I don't think so. I tried both a 1/4" to 3.5mm TRS and a 1/4" TRS to DIN to the included DIN adapter from an MC8 omniport and I think neither worked because the adapter is probably powered via 5 pin. It works perfectly with a DIN.

You should be good as you are. The Disaster Area Micro is a fairly unique MIDI controller because it has USB host capabilities, so it can be used with the C4's USB port. The MIDI Adapter is necessary for most standard MIDI controllers.

@@sourceaudioeffects The MIDI adapter might free up the USB port so you can connect to a computer to edit C4 presets while the DMC micro is still connected. This would be helpful for tweaking presets that use an expression pedal through the DMC, as well as saving some wear and tear on the USB jack.

@@sourceaudioeffects Also, the MIDI Adapter connection is a little more robust than the USB connection. It can handle more simultaneous CC messages and does better with MIDI clock.

If the CQ can send MIDI CC or PC messages from a footswitch, I can't see why not.

@@sjmtap6 I never did find out. Ended up selling it as even though it had great sounds, the usability of it in a live setting wa horrendous. Got a HX Stomp XL now which is much better.

I found that out too that in a live setting the C4 puts out massive and potentially destructive dynamics. But I tamed mine and bought few things to save speakers and ears.

Its really does haha! If you don't play super clean and create accidental string noise with some presets, my god it squeals like a pig!

it's not addressed in the video, but it doesn't work. You need to go through this interface. Pedal does so much, i guess it is a big ask for it to be such a simple connection. @@thesucculentcity

The newer Micro Pro does this. The older ones don't have this capability.

I’ve been using the Hub for Midi; is there an advantage to using this new adapter instead of the Hub?

It does what this small module does but for 5 SA pedals. It can also set up scenes for up to 5 SA pedals. I only have 1 SA pedal, I dont need the hub. I need this.

In all fairness, that's not a good idea from a commercial standpoint. Most guys want to do more than just scroll up and down. Most guys are using more complex Midi control systems. If they made a box with two buttons that just scroll up and down, they would sell two of them and one of them is going to be to you. When people suggest things it's important to understand what the majority of the market uses and not just about your exclusive type of use.

@@RallyWays You can do plenty of complex stuff. You just organise all your sounds for your set list in order. Simply scroll up them as you move through the set. simple. And way better than spending hundreds of yet another pedal to make the C4 usable. I sold mine a month or two after getting it. Great sounds but it was unusable in a live setting.

@@RallyWays and really the sensible thing to do would have been to have release it as a larger pedal in the first place. The design of the C4 is awful.

​@@cjlister8508 Dude, you're complaining about something as if you weren't a guitarist. Are you a guitarist? Because you need to understand the culture. Getting ANY super deep pedal is going to be limited if you don't have a proper MIDI controller to go along with it. This isn't new. This isn't a Source Audio only thing. Strymon, Walrus Audio, Empress. The whole lot. Not everyone likes or wants large pedals. Heck, even Strymon started releasing smaller stuff with Midi control (Cloudburst) because not everyone wants a giant pedal... because A LOT of us use MIDI controller. You want to freeze the audio on the Cloudburst? You're going to need either an extra switch or a midi controller because the pedal is too small to have two buttons. Get out of your "ME" attitude and understand that the market is much larger than just you. You sold the C4 because it wasn't for you? Great. But you're not everyone.

​@@RallyWays well, I'm a bassplayer and interested in the C4 as well but to buy an extra midi pedal to unlock the 128 presets? I too would like to see at least an extra button or a exp input just like the HX One so we can scroll through the presets. You're almost better off with a multi fx pedal then.
