@@Gumardee_coins_and_banknotes I have some mixed years and denominations. I will do a video soon about my SA coin & notes, to date. SA is not in my list of countries to buy exclusively for my collection, so all of them are from lot's that i buy for eBay reselling.

Is that 20 a print error, missing thr centre building? Printing errors were common with SA notes of this error due to a lesser quality control when it came to errors , very cool though

Thx Gunardee. I also have couple of old R1, R2, R5, R10 notes.(And an old R50-note I've lost...) I even have an older version of the R10 note. At the teacher college at Wellinton the lecture (60yrs) also could not ID the 10-note. Good so in 1966 the big notes was change to small notes. On Kommandeur Jan. van Riebeeck. His statue is in Cape Town. Historian have 2 pictures of him. One of him he is sexy and one not so sexy. The sexy one was used.... The Dutch-thing was to be little the Afrikaans by the English. That was back in the 1800's about. It was a culture thing. Afrikaners or Boers was not true Dutch and did not speak a true Dutch language. Even the Afrikaners Volk (Tribe/ Nation) was not 100% pure European. The Dale Carnegie-institute of America of 1920's also had some thing to say about it. (Die arm -Blanke- vraagstuk/ Poor White Question). On they other hand the English was all highly born, all speak an pure Queens English (not America bastard-language), all Super White too and cleaver.. The R2 note. I think it about Sasol (Suid-Afrikaanse Steenkool en Olie Refinadery/ South African Cole & Oli Refinirey) After 1976 (Sharpville) or there about no Weapens may be sold 2 the RSA and the Oil was added. ZA had 2 make Petrol, Diesel and Gas out of cole. Ystor which make Iron and Steel was created in about 1920/ 1930's. It was to show the English (UK) that South Africa will not use English/ Sheffield Steel... South Africa was still under the UK Supreme/ High Court and that connextion was first broken in 1956.

Thank you for that explanation. I was reading about Afrikaans and now they class is as a ceol language, facinationg. Pitty about your lost notes, but I have also lost some of my collection through me being silly. Thanks mate.

It is Jan van Riebeeck, that is who is printed on the notes. I am South African. Some people saying it is not, well our history was not wrong I assure you.

No, dude, as an Afrikaans South African historian, I can guarantee you that that is NOT Jan van Riebeeck on the bank notes. It is in fact that Batholomew guy.

I made a mistake with that guy's name from Concept Coins trigri89. That's his ebay shop. Speaking of South African coins, he has several and a whole lot more you'll like.

Condition is everything, also serial numbers and signatures play a part. A common used R5 or 20 is $5-10.

Their coins are rather expensive as I collect them. They're really nice coins and I have nearly all of them, pre and post decimal. I haven't got their 5 shilling coin as that is a bit too expensive and nor do I have any gold coins. Thanks for showing the notes. His picture really annoys me. I think it's the hair! There is another guy, but he's bald. Thank you Glen.

I got all my coins in lots, so got them cheap. The predecimals can be expensive, but I got a lot foe $40, which had most except the 5s.

@@Gumardee_coins_and_banknotes I got the large copper wagon and a few ships and the later small to medium copper (or whatever they are as they're better than ours) I got altogether. I've got some left over if you want them. They're from the 1990's and 2000's 5c - 50 cents. I've got so many of the pre-decimal 1/4 cent with the 2 birds on them as they are so cute. You can pay up to $80 for one but all mine were just under $10, as well as the brass 1/2 cents which are very similar but the bird's beaks are touching. So cute, as are the 1c coins. But being a guy you wouldn't think so - or I could be wrong. I've also got the nickel 5c-20c or whatever they're made of, and 1 and 2 Rands (square) The pre-decimal silver I got by bidding. I cant recall what I paid for them but I was determined to win, because ebay made me lose a previous lot. I got all couple 1966 silver round Rands and a large 50c silver coin, the size of a crown, which is my favourite and a couple proofs somewhere. Let me know if you want those coins. They're thicker than normal ones.

Me too, and NO IT IS NOT. It was a common mistake until about 1985 when it was finally confirmed that the guy on our old notes is in fact NOT JAN VAN RIEBEECK, but some other random Bartholomew guy.

Afrikaans and Nederlands ("Dutch") is only partly related. I think Nederlanders would be more offended if you compared the two. I could not care less other than to laugh at your ignorance.
