South Africa: Jacob Zuma thrills crowds at rally in his former party's heartlands

Former South African president Jacob Zuma was met by thousands of adulatory fans, as he held a rally in the heartlands of his former ANC party.
Mr Zuma is unlikely to win an election with his small new party, MK, but he is splitting votes. It comes amid growing frustrations around soaring unemployment, power cuts and corruption, which have threatened the ANC's ruling majority for the first time since South Africa voted for them in 1994.
Sky News' Africa correspondent Yousra Elbagir reports from Soweto.

ANC alone did not liberate South-Africa. There were two referendums in 1983 and 1992, amongst others, for instance. They were but one part of a massive machine

The ANC has been tested many-a-times in its existence. Our nation is polarised, it faces multiple threats to its sovereignty, its continued existence. The MK Party might just be the only constructive excision from the ANC since its formation in 1912, and more so post 1994. If the MK Party stays true to it commitments, then South Africans would have birthed a better balance to the complacency of the ANC, growing since 1994.
