Funny thing is that American tourists often complain about how bad the food is in my country Namibia. I lost it when one said beef tasted gamey, I realized these people don't really know the original taste of most food so it's weird for them when they taste the strong animal flavor.

How do u tell this to an American tho? Cause I tried and they insulted me saying I don't know what I'm talking about. I'm white so I wouldn't understand taste. Is that like a common insult in America? I want to know. Cause I love all African food but somehow they thought I had only tasted one kinda of food in SA. I've been in America for 2 years now and when I tell them food doesn't taste so good in America, I was so badly insulted by it. Is it offensive to Americans? If it is I would apologise. I think its because Really when you think about it, South Africa is just more of a fusion of the UK and USA. But i think our culture is more closely related to the UK culture, things like wearing uniforms for schools, Washing machines in the kitchen, Soccer being the dominant sport, driver seat on the right etc.. its a lot we share in common with the UK that UK will definitely feel more like home when compared to USA. But if we focus on entertainment, then America will feel like home, but the influence of entertainment sometimes make me believe that USA is a fictional place to a point where when i actually go there or meet an American, its like they are fake. My mind cant grasp that this is an actual person who is living in that place i saw on TV, and that place actually exists. Blows my mind sometimes, like shii, the Yellow school buses actually real, and the sheriff and cheer leaders for basketball 🤯🤯 Makes Americans almost feel like celebs.

People need tô learn that: America is a continent. And we have 3 Americas. In North America we have 3 countries: Canada, Mexico and United States. As an American, I visited South Africa for the first time (Feb 2024) and my experience may be different from the average tourist... I am blessed to have a wonderful woman in my life who is from South Africa and together we saw many things throughout the country. From a family wedding, visiting family and friends across the country, and spending most of our time on the farms and wilderness. The wildlife is definitely and obviously different but there are a lot of similarities in the culture I am familiar with. It has become very clear that the food is better! The grains and vegetables taste real, the meats taste like God intended and the variety is wonderful. The style of cooking is unique and traditional and the people are lively. We all definitely had a good time. I'm going to miss South Africa when I get home. My only problem was not knowing much Afrikaans. It's my own fault🤦 and will be learning more as time moves on. Although most can speak English, I missed a lot of chatty conversations amongst group gatherings.
