It's actually an incredibly good point; American meat production is hard on the animals and hard on the planet, does much more damage than most other livestock practices around the world, and creates a palpably lower quality product. America, by and large, absolutely sucks at raising livestock.

Actually, they say comedians are quite introspective and very observant people. It's just that they see the humor/contradictions in what they observe. @@mornevanjaarsveld9623 Yes Morne, I hear you. I am lucky enough to have grown up in the Transkei where Apartheid didn't have as much impact - as such, my parents are highly educated (both are specialized doctors with MBAs in business), I also went to the best school in the country and the best university in the country. My roots however, allow me to understand the black person's struggle and the psychology behind why black people in my generation look at past injustice while white people in that same generation want to forget it. Trevor Noah has explained it perfectly in this video, the truth and our salvation lies in between (excuse the pun). Black people (and others of colour oppressed by Apartheid) need to stop focusing all their efforts on the past (maybe Ekhardt Tolle should be introduced to the curriculum) and the elite white people in positions of power and influence should also open their attention spans to the reality of the crimes against humanity that took place before assigning all blame to the incompetent "black face" of the ANC and furthermore painting the entire black population with that label. Sorry for the essay hehehe.

@Channy Whocares Honestly I feel like there is no way to "fix" many of the things that have happened in the past, they were just so incredibly heinous that no action can reverse the consequences. The genocides and oppression that many people of colour experienced throughout history, set it up so that we still feel the inequalities generations later. All we can do is acknowledge it and stop treating people poorly now, so that we can live in a "better" present.

White Americans- “I wasn’t there!” Trevor- “I didn’t say you were there. I just said slavery happened.” White Americans- “Yeah but I swear I wasn’t there!” Trevor- “Dude, your 37. Calm down.” I feel like this is how a lot of conversations between whites and minorities go when it comes to addressing the crimes against humanity in our country’s past. They need to stop feeling guilty for what happened in the past and start actually addressing the social problems and ills that exist today that are a result of that heinous past. Ignoring the root causes of present problems does not allow us to fully heal. It does not honour those in the past who suffered or those still suffering to brush over uncomfortable topics because it was your dead relatives who did bad things.

E. J. Not all racists are white. Plenty of minorities hate white people but I think that comes from a reactionary place of historic and present oppression and an anger at the obliviousness some privileged whites carry with them when interacting with historically oppressed groups. A lot of that obliviousness is due to terrible handling of the teaching of these subjects in history classes that have mostly white teachers (the victors) teaching a perspective that doesn’t include all sides and voices. However, I feel in general that there is a secondary reaction to this anger against whites in which white people become defensive and feel they are being targeted by minorities unfairly for things they didn’t do themselves and they take it personally. They feel they shouldn’t be pinpointed for bad things their ancestors did that they are STILL benefitting from. They don’t want want to feel guilty; they just want to be happy, live their lives, walk their dogs, and enjoy their spoils. But they feel guilty anyway (especially when minorities are always crying foul about white privilege and current unfair social and economic systems) so it makes them angry at the minorities who made them feel guilty and makes them want to shutdown completely and have no dialogue. Then they start resenting the minorities they oppressed and the cycle of racism starts all over again. That’s how white nationalism starts. Whites fear of retribution by other historically oppressed races.

Close, we have selectively bred chickens over many, many generations in order to get ones that grow faster, larger and with more fat to the point that they can hardly walk under their own weight. Same can be said for cows, pigs, turkeys, you name it. What we should really be watching out for is antibiotics in animal feed. The conditions these animals are kept in is so vile and heinous that it’s practically a breeding ground for horrible illnesses. The fact that we cant eat raw meat isn’t inherently something about the animal itself as opposed to the conditions we keep them in, thus to keep them clinging to dear life for longer and to make their bodies spend less energy fighting off infections, we give them shit tons of antibiotics, which is rapidly contributing further to bacterial resistance. It would not surprise me to learn that we’re giving them hormones too, but I think it’s been widely banned or is not profitable.. Either way, heinous shit

As a young South African, for me the TRC in South Africa was not effective enough. I think we still need those conversations for the new generation to know where we come from and where want to go as far as solving these petty race issues which have held us back as a human race. Because the's also mental health issues that we as the youth inherit from our parents who were born, grew up and had famillies during apartheid, at the end of it, no trauma facilities were put in place at those townships where people saw other people get slaughtered and tortured. That is the problem with our nation at the moment, we never mentally recovered from Apartheid.

Breed of chicken does some, and the rest is from poisoning and mistreating the chickens. This causes epigenetic changes that turn on DNA use for apocalyptic/famine. This causes hostility in that chicken will harm themselves and others so their beaks are often melted off. It increases growth, and also lowers immune function so the chickens are given antibiotics daily. Their meat still ends up contaminated with Campylobacter jejuni, Salmonella, Clostridium perfringens and Staphylococcus aureus, so you need to treat the meat as a biohazard and sterilize anything the meat touched. The meat doesn't taste very good, and isn't good for you. The same was done to the public. Mothers were told not to nurture their babies and the food supply was poisoned. That is one reason why we have high suicide rates and shoot up schools. The epigentic switch also raises risks of high blood pressure, chronic infection, diabetes, and cancer. DNA figures that if there is plentiful food then the mother will have time to nurture the babies. If there is chemical trama then there must of been no good food. “The child who is not embraced by the village will burn it down to feel its warmth”

That's an interesting observation Trevor, I can't imagine how I would feel in the US because here in SA I still get a sense of people not really wanting to talk, white people claiming we like playing the victim card and the phrase '' get over apartheid it's in the past'' being thrown around more often than I would like to hear it. People are still quite uncomfortable about discussing the past. Many white people in South Africa still aren't aware of their privilege and the divide that still occurs between the whites and blacks of this country, especially financially, which we know is mostly attributed to them (white people) oppressing black people for decades. They took advantage of our Great-grandmothers and committed appalling human rights violations that still aren't being fully acknowledged, especially by the white people here. I personally believe we should be teaching every white person in SA that they have a responsibility to help uplift black people. It took them decades to break and oppress us in various ways so guess what, fixing that generational oppression will also take years. They have a responsibility to use their privilege to make a difference( significant difference, not handouts- that's not helping at all) in an impoverished black person's life. This has to be done up until there is a financial balance between the blacks and whites in this Country. Entlek, it should be a requirement from the government, white people register on some amend effects of apartheid and the government reviews every 2 years what each white person over the age of 18 has done actively to make a difference in the life of an impoverished and disadvantaged black person's life.

As a white in South Africa (an extremely left wing one at that too), I agree and disagree with what you said. Apartheid was horrid and we should always remember it and honour the people who fought to end it, but it's been almost 30 years now, and the ANC is now barely a shadow of its former self (at best). The great ANC that was for the people under leadership of Mandela hasn't existed for many years now. At this point a quarter of a century after apartheid has ended, it's the fault of the ANC that things have barely improved. The ANC has turned their back on the people of SA and lined their own pockets instead. But, in that same breath, we as South Africans can't allow this to continue, we need to rise up and hold the ANC accountable for not holding to their promises and values, instead of deflecting to something that happened 30 years ago that the ANC has completely and utterly done nothing to change or improve.
@boitumelolamola9582
@boitumelolamola9582 3 жыл бұрын
@@thenomad47 I definitely do agree with parts of what you are saying, I was actually having a conversation with some of my friends recently and realised that the ANC is actually exploiting the loyalty many black South Africans hold for them. While I still do feel white people need to step up more and stop pretending we are equal now, I do agree the ANC has allowed the inequality to proceed due to greed and selfishness as you pointed out. Yes! We need to step up as young South Africans and realize we have the power to change the rulers! I think that's another problem, we forget we actually hold the power over who rules this nation, and it's about time we appoint people/persons that produce results, irrespective of gender or race. Our leaders have no diligence, this entire ordeal of people holding positions that they barely understand the requirements for needs to end for us to continue as a nation. I mean till when will primary school children use pit toilets? If the right people with the right skills were appointed, it would have been history by now... But yall white people still have a role(major) to play in dismantling all this hey, because all that happened in History has contributed to all this mess that we see today. So don't be shirkers, if you truly believe in the equality for all people regardless of race, you all should be worried about the state of this country(we are the most unequal country in the world and we both know whos at the bottom and top of the ladder). I sometimes get this sense that most white South Africans are just enjoying their comfortable lives, ignorant to the reality of lives black people in this country are subjected to, you get? yall too comfortable and that's a problem! (and obviously its not all White South African people, I'm not generalizing, its just most of you all)
@thenomad47
@thenomad47 3 жыл бұрын
@@boitumelolamola9582 I agree that many white South Africans don't realize the role we have left to play, but honestly, there's only so much we can do without the government. I know of many whites who've willingly given up parts of their farmland and helped black farmers to build commercial farms. I personally try to help one of my black friends who's started a business as much as i possibly can, not just monetarily. Many whites have tried to help improve the living conditions of black South Africans since the end of apartheid, but we will never be able to help improve the living standards of black people if the government keeps lining their pockets and practically, for all intents and purposes engineering situations and events to increase racial tensions to ensure that black and white can't unite to improve everyone's living standards. Because as long as racial tension is caused and people stay distracted and angry at the wrong people, aka each other, they can keep lining their own pockets
