Wow, I grew up in South c in the late 70's early 80's and it ended at the M. O. W playground, then came Mugoya estate and the rest is history.... Now watching this video, the only places I can identify are the shopping centre and YMCA.... I don't like the skyscrapers strewn around the place.... Thanks to African traveller for the nostalgia of them days.. Asante sana

This was my home from around 1980 to 1986. Its truly unrecognisable. I went to Our Lady of Mercy and the Catholic church was our familys worship place.. Yes its true there were only single houses no high rises and my the shops are so many. The national park was not far from our place either at the time and not sectioned off. Thanks for posting.

Grew up there. Its a total mess now - the same old infrastructure with no improvements despite densification, uncontrolled conversion of private houses into shops and butcheries, crippling water shortages and all the well planned open spaces have been grabbed. Really sad.

Man i miss that place, akina Eriko,ngoyo, Muthinja hapo base salimikeni if you watching this clip. It's sad how not only South c but nairobi has turned into a hostile cohabitation, people living here now unlike our childhood days are rough and arrogant. Ni kila mtu na mungu wake sasa, no social halls where people can interact and express their speech, playgrounds for young kids have been grabbed and they now have to resort into zero-grazing in their houses with playstations damn Nairobi had a soul back then. That's how people like E-sir,longombas,redsan et al were able to spring up, through constant interaction with their environment not encaging themselves.

The First Lady is definitely a South C person, as a guide she had it down. The roads are fixed if it takes a few Nairobi heavy rain and floods to mess them up.

Thanks for sharing these videos. I am a Kenyan residing in Canada, I haven't been to Kenya for almost 5.5 years but plan to this year God willing. I really miss Kenya. East or West Home is Best. I appreciate that you are trying to promote Kenyan artists, but I think instrumental music, without lyrics, would be more ideal for any audience that watches your videos

Grew up in South B and south C area in the 80s. While we did have Indians majority of people who owned those the houses and lived theor were black. May be it went from Indians to mixed Kenyan ethnic groups then to Kenyan Somalis from mid 90s onward. Been away for a minute but the is mt sense talking with people I grew up with. Thanks African traveller for showing South C, now pitia juu ya bridge to go to South B.. Missed chuo a many times to go play on that bridge until I gpt busted by a family friend..

Kenya failed in urban planning... at some point those temp power lines will have to be removed and run underground and houses and building will need to be numbered for proper addressing. Also traffic lights, stop signs, crosswalks needs to be intalled and road markings. One last thing, I hope traffic rules will be enforced through fines and jail and city government cleans the roads. There is plenty of employement opportunities for youths.
