I am a Korean who served R.O.K army and retired as captain. As shown in that video, the selectors place is not ideal. I had many difficulty in dealing with that weapon because of the terrible placement of selector. Be not ergonomic. Thank you for making this video.

Acog is a scope attachment, no gun comes with it but there is nothing preventing you from attaching one Edit-typo

The early flash deflector of K1A was shaped of the trumpet just like the M3 Grease gun. But they realized that this flash deflector causes a loud noise that causes the damage during the special operation. So they replaced a new flash deflector that inspired by the Colt XM177’s flash deflector.

I used this gun in Korean army 20 years ago. I have never seen running fires of this gun. We didn't allow running fires. Just single fire is allowed. It's very cool to see running fires.

1:30 Just to add, it's rarely a problem for normal Korean soldiers since the Korean regular infantry drill teaches them to change the mag and pull the loading lever with the right hand. The mag release lever can be easily pressed with the user's right thumb while holding the magazine. Still, it is true that the lever is hard to reach with the right index finger, and some guys, like the guys in specops, would probably feel the inconvenience.

Yup the Korean reload drill is reminiscent of the AK reload more than an AR reload. Magazine release is pressed with the left thumb while the left hand grabs and removed the magazine. The charging handle is also pulled with the left hand like with an AK.

You do that high pitched tone and it messes with my tinnitus. Trained with the ROK Marines, those were some big boys, maybe the reach to the mag button was designed for them.

I've been complaining about the sound editing in these videos for years. All of the added ringing, heartbeat, and fake gunshots during the hi-speed is bad enough but in this video it sounds like they've replaced every shot the gun fires with the same exact fake gunshot for every round. It's extremely distracting. Even the sound of the steel target getting hit was dubbed in with something ridiculous.

When design of K1 was started in 1977, S. Koreans were shorter. Now, thanks to better diet, average height/build of S. Koreans is much higher/bigger.

Well lame story. I served in 56th div, reserved force, as an unit supply from 2016 to 2018. I had K2 ar15 rifle. I shot them once when I was in the boot camp. After that, never. it was just hanging behind my back lmao. All I've done in my service was giving/taking back supplies to/from reserved forces xD. oh and meaningless organizing our warehouses, dang.

그립에서 손을 살짝 떼야만 탄창버튼을 누를 수 있는게 비효율적이라고 생각했는데 역시 그 부분을 지적하시는군요 또 5.56탄을 사용하는데 기관단총이라고 우기는거 지적해주시니 속 시원하네요

K-2 Lower + K1A Upper = best carbine setup you can use in ROK force. at least back when I served 😂

I prefer DI to any Piston system, they are more accurate, and IMO easier to clean. If the SK had used an adjustable gas system on the K1 it would have been a perfect SBR from the get go

당시엔 SMG로 만들어졌지만 결과적으론 요새 대세인 SBR 이 된 시대를 앞서간점이 있죠. 댓글다신 분의 말씀은 정확한 정보는 아닙니다. K-1과 M-16 초기형들이 쏘는 55gr의 M193탄도 엄연히 제식 나토 5.56mm 탄으로 채용 되었었고 말씀하시는건 한국에서 K100탄으로 불리우는 SS-109나 -SS-110등의 강철 관통자가있고 폭발압이 더 강한 후기형 나토 탄약이죠. K-1으로 SS-109를 발사하면 당장 터지지는 않지만 계속 쏘다보면 큰 무리를 주는건 사실이라 총을 못쓰게 됩니다. 언젠가는 터질수도 있고요.

116앨빈 ㅎㅎ 아니에요. 그리고 첨언하자면 무거운 탄인 K100(62Grain)은 K2의 탄두가 총열 7.3인치당 1회전 강선에 발사되야 충분한 회전과 가속을 얻을수 있는데 반해 (미식축구 쿼터백이 멀리 던질때 공에 옆 시네루 엄청 먹이는거 상상하시면 됩니다) K1은 더 가벼운 (55GR) 을 발사하도록 12인치당 1회전 강선을 갖고 있기에 K100(Ss109 또는 M855)을 발사할시 시네루가 부족해 할배 곧휴 탄도가 나오게 됩니다. 이게 아무리 급해도 K1으로는 K100탄을 쏘지 않는 또다른 이유중의 하나입니다. K100탄 발사시 빳빳한 청년 곧휴 탄도로 만들기 위해 신규 생산되는 K1은 K2의 와 같은 강선을 갖게 될것으로 알려져 있습니다. 그리고 이건 제 경험이자 사견인데요, .. 그럴경우 거의 같은 길이와 강선을 지닌 총열을 장착한 M4A1 Socom의 경우처럼 스코프 장착시에 500미터 대인 사격도 가능해질것 같습니다.

I used this when i was in army and i really couldn't understand that why my country insist k1A is a "submachine gun" although it uses 5.56mm nato ammo. Also it's very uncomfortable that i can't reach the magazine release without taking my hand little off from the grip. it's very inefficient. not a bad gun but also not a good gun i think. I really agree everything that this video says

I served 2years with k-1a in Seoul as a chemical corps of Soobangsa which is capital defense command. It was a great gun for me. Had a chance to use both k-2 and older version of m-16 but still k-1a was the easiest firearm to handle for me.

I'm from a non-commissioned officer of the Korean. The disadvantage of the K-1 is that it is difficult for beginners to aim. However, it is easy to carry. In a normal shooting exercise, the ratio of shooters to K-1 is lower than that of a K-2 rifle shooter. Most infantry soldiers are used by communication soldiers, company chiefs, and others. Previously, rails were attached at private expense to attach options, but now they're in the market. Funny points can be combined at the upper part of K-1 and the lower part of K-2, and vice versa. (Normal operation is not guaranteed.) Both k-1 k-2 are good guns, There is a gap between the upper and lower parts of the body. The dangling of the separation can cause functional failure. If you use your hands to support the gun cover, the gap will disappear, and if you shoot with a single shot, the malfunction will decrease, but you can shoot with automatic fire. When a magazine is held by hand and shot, it makes a difference. Also, due to its disadvantages, handholds attached to the handle can be destroyed in severe cold conditions. This is the only thing that comes to mind now... as a personal experience It may be different. Please understand that the translation may be inaccurate because it is a translation using a translator. When I served military duty in Korea, I used K1, K2, M16, and M60. I found K1 quite lighter than M16 so it was more comfortable for me to carry out tactic practices. No need to worry about bounce phenomenon. Thanks for the review. =)

@@Kaaaaaaail In shithole South Korean military, soldiers are forced to pick up every shell casings and are severely punished if numbers don't match rounds fired. South Koreans are abused so much in military and lack even basic human rights, military is constantly paranoid that a soldier under stress will smuggle away live ammunitions and go on a shooting spree or kill the officers. Even though there is zero combat in DMZ, more South Korean soldiers die per year from accidents or suicide than number of US soldiers killed in action per year during Iraq war. Any injured South Korean soldiers are usually forced to pay medical bill out of their own pocket. South Korean government doesn't pay a dime for funerals of dead soldiers. In rare case such as the DMZ landmine incident which was publicized in the media, government covered the soldier's amputation medical fee, but this usually causes South Korean feminists to go on outrage. Hell South Korean feminists even rage about soldiers getting free Starbucks coffee. Even civilian restaurants near military bases have separate menus for civilians and soldiers to rip off soldiers. Soldiers menu is always more expensive and have poorer quality. Military service in South Korea is rly fucked up. Soldiers are disparagingly referred as guard 'dogs' of the country. There needs to be more international awareness of the shithole human rights condition of the South Korean military, since only international scrutiny might force South Korean govt to make changes.

I used K1A when I was at ROK-Army.. and push the magazine release was always very uncomfortable. if your finger is not very long, you cannot push the button using only one hand unlike AR-15.. also K-2 has same problem. For the rest both are good rifles. its a reliable most all the time only if your magazine is not old. 좋은 리뷰임..

I used M16A1 during the Korean military service (1992 ~ 1994). Automatic shooting of the M16A1 was limited to 100 to 200 rounds (5 to 10 magazines).

이총 좋음 가볍고 휴대성 좋고 정비성 좋고 잘맞고 반동도 적고 가격싸고 그리고 확실히 총신이 짧은만큼 화력은 K2에 밀리지만 휴대성은 상상을 불허함

here's what I noticed: 1) The rate of fire makes it very controllable. Hence more effective shot placements in a real fight even in full auto. 2) Stamped sheet metal construction, so easy to manufacture for the whole country if a serious war breaks out.

Served in ROK Army 12th Mountain Div. Reconnaissance, and K1A was my rifle. Problems with K1A is that, Recon personel are provided with picatinny rail that replaces handguard, and you have to mount ‘PAQ’, Foregrips, Taclights, and ‘PVS-11K RDS’. Makes the gun super front-heavy. But that thin telescopic stock just isn’t viable enough to withstand the kick. K1A is more of a MAR, while K2C1 is a full sized rifle. K1A is too outdated and K2C1 is too long for mountain operations. What ROKA needs is a Carbine, a god damn Carbine.

@Viscous Force For average Asian personel, and the tough mountain terrain in SK,a full sized rifle sure is one big a pain in the ass. I served with US soldiers in my unit and hell they were not ready for the mountain terrains in SK not even in their battlerattles. Its tough dude.

More advanced carbine version of K1A is K2C, it was already released by S&T but South Korea army still not adopted the new one 'Cause South Korea authorities couldn't obtain enough defense budgets for the adoption of those rifles. Let me put it bluntly, a few rifles adopted by South Korea's SF soldiers but it's only a few not much. Because so far they have been striving for the newest aircraft "F-35" from the US under the situation that not enough national defense budgets.

k1 a1소총은 5.56mm NATO탄 못씁니다. 물론 2010년도 이후 출고 제품부터는 강선 개선으로 사용가능하지만 그전 제품들은 피시테일 현상때문에 나토탄 못쓰고 5.56미리 풀메탈 제킷탄 M193탄 사용합니다. 그리고 스캘레톤 스톡은 호불호가 많이 갈리는 편이고실제 사격해보면 잘맞기는 하나 개인 사격기술이 어느정도 받쳐주지 않으면 쓰기 힘드총입니다.

K1A1 is a civilian variant exported to the US. All 'K1' in service with the Republic of Korea Armed Forces are 'K1A.'

his K1A is weird, it has the 2020 DEVGRU/warrior platform handrail that is actually wrong in the game (it has 8 ventilation holes on each side instead of 5) and the stock is some random skeleton ak-type stock instead of an AR-15 style milspec stock. Other than the barrel length and warrior platform enhancements the gun is exactly the same.

The reason it uses direct impingement is because K1A was a side project of K2. Early protytpes of K2 has a lot of M16A1 influence. K1A was developed and manufactured years earlier than K2, which changed a lot from its early prototypes. Also K2 was suppose to be a battle rifle (7.62x51mm NATO).
