I was born there; near the German border. For me, most beautiful part of the Netherlands. Great food, great beer, great surroundings. There are some motorcycle rides I made there on my channel. Look for Heuvelland or Zuid Limburg. There’s a song about The Dutch Mountains, made by the band the Nits.

I have been on holyday in South Limburg a few times. It's beautiful there. Enough to do there. Valkenburg and Maastricht are beautiful old cities. You have Vaals tripoint. A beautiful old castle in Hoensbroek. And of course the American cemetery Margraten. Caves and mines and fantastic nature. Top 👍

Funny to hear you say so, again; we Dutchies dó seem to love and honor our (home) places. I was born in the south but moved away at the age of 5, all the way to the north west, Noord-Holland. I still love the south, have family there but I grew up and am very much at home at the north sea coast! Very different, also stunningly beautiful. Hoping to sent you some footage driving over the afsluitdijk to Friesland 'with the boys' on our bikes, something I am convinced you would (hopefully someday wíll) enjoy! A lot! ;) Hoping you're settling in well again, in California.

LMAO 🤣🤣🤣, the way you said it. The southern part of the netherlands speaks with a soft "g" you pronounced it the nothern way , the hard "g". Dang even this dutch man find the language difficult 🤣🤣🤣

I grew up here. Not sure if you knew, but very briefly they showed the Margraten American military cemetery you reacted to before (I also adopted a grave of an American soldier). It is definitely a beautiful place with rich culture and history. Definitely recommend the local cuisine as well. Should you ever have the opportunity to visit and need a guide, feel free to ask.

A beautiful part of our country, with some wonderful warm people. As a guy from Haarlem in North Holland, coming to Limburg is almost like traveling to a different country. The landscape gets different, the architecture is different and the people speak a language which is quite different. And yet it always feels like coming home.

During my study at the TUE I didn't understand much of it. About 1/3 of students there are from Limburg, but I got used to it. Do not speak it, but understand it perfectly. Not even in Maastricht they can trick me... 😃

@@dutchman7623 I understand a little from it, when I change my mindset to German. For me it’s easier to understand a German speaking with an accent, than to understand someone speaking Limburgish.

@@MLWitteman Correct! But it's a Dutch dialect, with some German sound to it, but the words are close to the language of Flanders and Brabant. In general I can understand German speakers, but not from Schwarzwald or Schwäbisch.

I've been a long weekend in Valkenburg and Maastricht with my husband and those are indeed magical and beautiful places. Definitely a must see if you're coming to the Netherlands.

i am from Zuid Limburg ( Oostelijke Mijnstreken ) and its absolutely beautiful here. a lot of nature and a rich history of Coal mining and Old castles and Abbey's. i can recommend people to come and visit our beautiful area and not just visit the common tourists places in the Netherlands like Amsterdam.

I come from there(living in Weert,North Limburg) and it can indeed be a very calming place to drive trough, especially the more u go south. Its a shame this video did't show the villages and cities, couse those are something to behold as well.

The video shows very little of the south of Limburg. You can’t see the villages and the cities. There are indeed beautiful landscapes and little villages and cities but not everything is beautiful as it once was . Beautiful old buildings were demolished in the sixties and had to make way for ugly new ones . Fortunately, at a certain point some people( The city council or the provincial government) started to realize that no more had to be demolished and they tried where possible to bring back the old atmosphere, how it once was.

I've never been in Zuid-Limburg , looks good tho and for the first time I see mountains in the Netherlands (that everyone outside the Netherlands will call small hills.)

I almost hiked through all of South Limburg, i visited it about 2 times a month from Dordrecht which is a 3 hour drive by train. Truly like it there its magical for sure made about 300 photos there!

One of the most standard vacation destinations for people without any imagination.......but I must admit it's really nice there! I went there with my wife and kid 2 years ago and we really liked it! Beware though of the agressive Belgian racing cyclists there!

Its beautiful indeed.I’ve been there countless times. There are beautiful places in the Netherlands. Also "de Veluwe" or "Goeree-Overflakkee" for example. A small country with plenty of beautiful things to see. Definitely worth a visit! You show a lot in your videos from Dutch soil. Can you explain where that fascination comes from?

I always think of André van Duin's movie "De boezemvriend" when people mention this. (Rip-off movie by the way.) In that movie he meets Napoleon, who complains about being depressed because everything here is so flat. One of his generals or whatever makes a boobies-gesture and says: "Behalve de vrouwen!" ("Except the women") Napoleon wasn't amused by that because he didn't understand that that guy actually meant that the women here have big tiddies. :P
