I am from Delhi. For the past 4 years, I have been working in Chennai. These 4 years I have learned a lot about life and people. Tamil people are collectively sweet and kind to even strangers. Initially I had the ego driving me acting like as a North Indian, I'm superior to the Tamil people and did not care about anything. But the karma played it's drama in my life. My mom was diagnosed with cancer and our family decided to treat her in Chennai. It was one of the popular cancer institute in the country. In the 20+ months of journey, so many Tamil people helped my family and supported us a lot. That too, mostly strangers. My relatives and friends in Delhi, they did not even care about my mom's life. I am so grateful to this Tamil people as without them, my family would be in so much turmoil and we would have lost my mom. Now my mom is doing well and I am married to a Tamil girl. Comparatively south states are more liberal,educated,cultured,less discriminating against the women.

If south india will be separated from North India, no doubt within a short period it will be like (I mean southern india🇮🇳) Singapore🇸🇬.

The growth of Tamil Nadu is because 1.. Education 2. Women's education 3. Proficiency in English 4. Industrial zones in each district 5. Incentives for women and education 6. Public distribution system 7. Public health system in every village 8. Proper roads 9. Proper electricity 10. Social justice . It will take another 50 years for North India to achieve this if they keep voting for Mandir.

I am from Bangalore. I recently visited 2 north states & to my surprise and depressing thing I encounter is sick casteism still exists and certainly takes front seat than anything else in Northern states.

South people identify themselves by their language and territory. Other things are very secondary to them. Midday meal in TN schools was started much before MGR, by the great leader Kamaraj in the sixties itself. MGR made it more nutritious. But Periyar is the actual reason behind women education in TN.

Mam I am from Telangana and have been to North India many times the aim of young people in UP Bahar is to become rich instantly for this atleast one person from each household is active in politics to become rich instantly for them politics is only option, , when they see highly educated people are struggling to maintain less than a little decent life people in politics making money fast and in quantum. Where as in South India politicians are not heros they are looked like corrupt people they prefer to work 9 to 5 and concentrate on children education and hardly any any difference between boys and girls when it comes education.

Midday meal scheme is one single scheme which transformed TN into an educationally forward and economically prosperous State, leading the rest of India in HDI also. According to an World Bank Report the girls became literate because of the midday meal scheme. The government of that day embarked on a wide range of birth control measures including mass communication through bill boards prominently displayed which the educated women were able to read and got the message of a small family. This naturally led to a reduced birth rate and higher per capita income.

All new infra projects are directed in north. It's a shame that even today Mumbai Chennai rail still didn't have full two track railway line forget about full electrification. And similar status in other important lines as well. And all the super fast new trains are being introduced in north.

In South India, especially in Tamil Nadu, the traditional Dravidian rule of equality and access to everything is enjoyed by all, especially women. In particular, women get many benefits including free travel in city buses, ₹1000 per month assistance for college going women, 33 percent seat reservation, equal rights for women in property. Tamil Nadu leads in free higher medical treatment,free education and free breakfast, mid day meals to all govt., School students . Most North Indians work in Tamil Nadu. It is a safe state to live. It has many features.

It's been 75 years of independence still this sanghis is arguing North got more invasions but south didn't.

First of all, Why govt is not bifurcating or trifurcating UP

The most important reason for North-South disparity is because of higher and much more rigid caste hierarchy practice and division in north compared to south. Therefore education opportunities are missing for a large percentage of population in north.

North is more concerned about God; Cows and Politicians. South is more concerned about development of the people. Health and Education are on priority.

If Govt of India implements Constitution Delimitation, South India will get further less MPs in Loksabha. This will lead to partition of South India. The best thing that can happen to India is if the Southern and Northern States separate out and become two separate countries. The 5 Southern States will then very rapidly develop and become on par with their neighbours like Singapore, Malaysia, etc. within 10 years - culturally too the Southern States have more in common with these neighbouring countries in South East Asia than with North India. North India meanwhile which is culturally much more similar to Pakistan than to South India will become exactly like Pakistan. They will be come mirror images of each other, with their gun culture violence, gang rapes, violence against women, street mafias, constant religious and caste hatred & killings, and general lawlessness. North India and Pakistan will then be identical to each other, except for the difference in religion. Let us hope this finally happens, because then both the North and the South can then finally live in peace - with the North focussed on their own priorities as mentioned above, and the South focussed on its own priorities of economic development, health, education, and generally attaining a high standard of living.

South India is subsidising Bimaru North India. Only reason for Northern States failure is that they have lost their sense of state identity because of illiteracy and corrupt politician while southern states were always conscious of their requirements and development because of insecurity from Hindi ( justified insecurities) . They came to all the south states and established schools, colleges and hospitals. This is true and fact but I know majority of Indians will won't agree with me.

Before globalization and liberalisation it was License Raj and no major industries were started in tamilnadu. After liberalisation only Southern states capitalised the vast opportunity. For this development, women empowerment was indispensable because of education, equality in opportunity and social justice, above all population control. Every time BJP starts saying that North was invaded and they didnt grow. 1947 we achieved freedom. South and North were the same at that time. Many were below poverty line and spread equally both in North and South. With levelling the playfield in 1947 itself for all how come South improved and North didnt? government education institutions in Kerala are not so better as you say ,but 100% parents like to give maximum education for their children's because of the influence of their migration to abroad ,there they interacted with different people from various part of the world. this kind of collaboration changed their attitude.

The foreign invasion theory touted by the BJP spokesman is no way to explain the divide. The last foreign incursion , as it were, took place in 1761. The battles the East India Company fought to establish their rule lasted till the turn of the 19 th century And that happened all over the sub-continent. While there are many waiting in the wings to politicise this issue , it needs wider apolitical debate .

Great discussion. Just returned back to Singapore from a short holiday at TN and Kerala. I think their success is rooted in better harnessing the power of Diversity versus the North. Despite the religious, caste, gender divisions in the South it is nothing compared to the North. BJP is making it worse, unfortunately.

We south people voted for high standard colleges and hospitals not for temples.
