holyshit this bring backs memories when I was still in grade 5. every schooldays I had a 20pesos money for my recess but I won't spend it and ill wait until noon which is the end of the class then I would go home and eat then change shirt and go to computer shop and play ragnarok for 1hour which is 20pesos. then after that I would just stay at the computer shop until 5pm and watch other people playing ragnarok. im from philippines btw

This game will always have a special place in my heart. Growing up I definitely learned a lot of bad and good from the game. Those hours and hours or should i say weeks of hunting GR card and other mini boss card. Time has definitely flew by... Nostalgia

It's 2005. You're sitting outside the south gate of Prontera. You're waiting for your friend, w ho just started the game, to finish his starter quest. You opened a chatroom to flag him down when he came out, but some randoms joined before him. For a moment you just chatted with these strangers. Maybe they were new, maybe veterans. Maybe they wanted to offer you some items to help you along. Maybe they wanted to ask you questions about the game. Maybe they just wanted to hang out, usually that's the only reason you needed. Maybe you continued playing with them, maybe they went their own way - but those small social interactions made the game back then. I know the game still exists, but not really. RO occurred during a phase of the MMO scene where we actually played to be social. Maybe it was a different game for you, maybe it was WoW or Runescape. One thing is for sure, I miss it.

seeing the south gate this empty (plus the music) is so depressing 😭 i miss the noises the buff skills make, the random dead branch summons, etc. and i used to vend here for hours at my favorite spot against the wall in the shade near the entrance. i always thought the south gate to be a more relaxing place than the west gate.

man, I've been there long time ago. The benches near the gate were our guildsmen favourite spot. Sometimes, we went online just to sat down there, chatting, and enjoy the scenery and BGM. What a lovely game.

This brings back so many3x memories. One of the best games I've had played so far. But, the old RO is different. The environement, community and guild. I always remember before where though I was still sleepy but need no wake up early every weekend just to help my guildmates with the WOE. Gosh, it's been a very long time. For me in terms of mmorpg, this is the best of it. How I wish this game would have a redemption where its glory would be brought back to life. PH player here! I LOVE YOU RO!

This gives me so much nostalgia that I can’t even express my feelings, its joy, happiness, sadness, I’m feeling like crying, all together. Such a precious time I spent playing RO, the amazing memories will be forever warmly kept in the bottom of my heart.

I remember back in the day, when we were all starting out, my friends and I 4 of us played together, in this very map we were farming pupas and there was one pupa that was about to turn into a creamy while we were hitting it, the pupa transformed and we all panicked coz the creamy was like lvl20+ and were like lvl5 and one of us was able to hit the creamy with a crit, and the other 3 missed, then boom he died. Good times... Good times

This map, it was very special. My first hunting map. My first map when i met my first in game friend. And my last place before i retired. Big appreciation for anyone who composed this song. It will remains as our youth core memories.

i miss this game, i try to play in private server but.. but its feel different.. its feel like ah.. i dont know to explain.. is so boring its just not same at that time when i was 12 y old.. is so sad to remember how fun i am playing around with my friends, become an acolyte, hunting together till night i think i miss "the moment" but this game made "that moment" oh boy, friends where are you guys (T_T)

Ragnarok is one of those "if you know, you know" kinda games, there's just nothing else like it. I've played dozens of mmos, nothing gets close to the feel of ragnarok. idk if or when that feeling can be replicated, but i hope one day another game can be a true successor. it's so sad the game is dead now :(

I was under the impression she's my GF (female swordsman) because we had a good time chatting and sitting here in south prontera. I had no more money to extend my time in the computer rental shop so I said my goodbye and hoped we could chat again. Turns out that was our first and last encounter. Ohhh the childhood "heartbreak". lol. Wish I could go back to this simple yet wonderful lifestyle of the early 2000s
