After a series of complicated and risky surgeries, China’s “folded man” is finally able to stand upright for the first time in 28 years. Li Hua suffers from ankylosing spondylitis which can cause bones to fuse and the spine curve forward. In the case of 47-year-old Li, his upper body folded forward completely. After enduring four surgeries which involved breaking and reconstructing some of his bones, he is gradually adjusting to a far more normal life than he had before.

Her saying it wasn't his fault that he got sick is so important to me. She refused to abandon him, stayed by his side through it all and got to see him heal and get better. And even after all this time, he worries about being a burden... I hope she and Li get to do and have the things they want. They deserve it, and much more.

I have been following this story for some time. His mom is an extraordinary lady. She literally went to the ends of China to find a solution for her son to get better because she was genuinely worried about what would happen to him after she died. She didn't want him to have a horrible life after her. Thanks to the Doctor and Li for taking the risk and moving forward with the operation so that he can walk now and be able to support himself with things he wasn't able to do at all before. I love that he plays the song for his mom and how she says it brings her tears each time. It is a beautiful song and she has a beautiful voice.

And especially with the context behind the story.. this mom is a die hard, with unconditional love for his son. A true mothers heart, Just like our mother earth, keeps on giving and giving until shes almost at the end of her own life.. Im amazed, these should be the inspiration for our next generation. Instead of the flashy rappers, money and those shallow subjects We need more love in this world ❤

This brought me to tears. I was raised without a mother. While parents in China dream of their child going to Harvard, this mother spent her days taking care of her son who couldn’t sit up straight. She never gave up on him. Her unconditional love and support speaks volumes. No amount of money can repay it. And we can see that he still struggles. His situation isn’t ideal, yet he is so grateful. He has dreams and goals in life.
