China recently wrapped up the “two sessions'' of its national legislature and top political advisory body. Beyond the confirmation of an unprecedented third term for President Xi Jinping and the unveiling of his new leadership team, the annual gatherings in Beijing are key indicators of the country's economic, military and foreign policy direction. China expert and veteran journalist Chow Chung-yan, the South China Morning Post’s executive editor, breaks it down for us. In this episode of Talking Post, he sits down with chief news editor Yonden Lhatoo to provide a real insider’s perspective.

The CCP is the best system for China with 1.4 billion population. Can you imagine China with western form of democracy? It would be pure chaos. But it must have leaders like President Xi with genuine concern for the Renmin, no tolerance of corruption of officials( knowing human weakness ). Jia you China.

I am not China's politic expert. I just use my logic when my white colleagues keep saying that Chinese politicians only listen and say "hail" to 1 voice I kept saying Chinese people are not robots. ALL of us are hard-headed people especially when we believe in things. And we do really believe we are smart people.. Chinese people "invent" Kopitiam (commoners coffee cafe) way before the Europeans create cafe society. Common Chinese had gathered in Kopitiam talking about politics, government, business and life. I even tell them, if we are headless people, me the asian descendant girl is not going to argue and reason with you, the white men. And I will just agree with whatever all of you said. They said I was brought up outside China, I told them no, I am brought up by my Chinese family. And wish them to see when my families talk about government and politics. We talked about them during chinese new year!! My uncles, dads..and we are not even politician..we have OPINION

The real "no voice" people are the whites who then pretend that they have voices. Just look at religions wise - they are forced to follow only one religion, and virtually no choice at all. It was "either Christianity or be killed" from day one during Constantine's era and still is today. The illusion of choice and the illusion of freedom is just that - westerners are just too brainwashed by their upbringing, media and government to believe that they have choices but they don't. It is so pervasive that any outsiders could perceive such illusions that they have. Julian Assange? Snowden? These are the people that are trying to alert the westerners that they are being gagged and yet the brainwashed westerners still believe otherwise. Look at the lie of WMD - such atrocious lie and yet every westerner believe in the lie without questioning it. If they really weren't brainwashed, such lie would not have succeeded. The lie of Uyghurs' genocide succeed because the westerners are too brainwashed to have brains of their own to think.

China is not lucky to have Xi Jinping as leader. China is blessed! The country is economically prosperous and stable. China is the richest country in the world. There are 1.5 billion peoples in China hence the largest consumers of productions in the world. China rid of poverty because of Xi’s leadership. There is no mass killings in China. The country is very clean. There is no homelessness in China everyone has a home to go to. There is no violence in China. There is no beggars in China. The peoples of China are very peaceful. This has caused a lot of jealousy in the USA. It is why the USA badmouth China right now. When the USA has nothing positive to offer the world, China wants to share its economic success with its strategic partners. China is becoming a peacemaker right now. China successfully brokered a peace pact between two Muslim countries, Iran and Saudi Arabia. China right now is working towards a peaceful end to the US War in Ukraine. Xi Jinping currently in Moscow to talk peace with Russia. He then travels to Kiev to talk peace with Vladimir Zelensky. Give China talking peace a chance! Say no to wars!

@SimonTang8484

As someone from Hong Kong, I have to disagree here. Hong Kong is simply transitioning its role from "China's gateway to the world" to "The world's gateway to China". Let's say a China company wants to attract foreign investment for development, they will prefer to be listed on HK stock exchange rather than on the US stock exchange for obvious reasons. (e.g. Huawei, TikTok) And a lot of foreign investors also favor investing in China via Hong Kong because of Hong Kong's monetary policy which allows money to flow in and out of the system freely. Hong Kong is uniquely positioned to play this role for China, and China is too smart to abandon it. It wasn't about patriotism, it is about what makes economic sense.

This journalist Chow Chung-yan lives in China, studies China in person, investigates and talks to Chinese citizens, and does his critical analysis based on facts but you cannot accept what he says because it is different from what western mainstream media (MSM) say? Plus, most of MSM journalists do not even speak or write Chinese but have no qualms about giving their so called fake expert report on China! Give up your colonial/imperialist mindset. China will always have a different governance system, which by the way is proving to be very effective, so eat your heart out - there is nothing you can do. Don't know which country you belong to. I suggest you pay more attention to what your government is doing for the citizens in your country!!!
