Although originally in black & white, Southern ITV had a movie of some of the delights of the region towards the end of their startup music routine. As I was born mid-70s I am most familiar with TVS but I am sure this was a part of my younger days, the music is just stunning!

Hi Andy. Richard Addinsell wrote this most wonderful composition. You can certainly hear the ocean, landscapes and hornpipe; very regional. However, the IBA decided that Southern wasn't the best company to lead the region through the 80s and that TVS had the better plans. I think that TVS did a wonderful job. Had it not been for the 1990s franchise auction, I think that TVS would have survived comfortably. Best wished, Nigel.

Hi. I'm very glad you enjoyed the video; nostalgia with a modern feel. I included the shire horses in the video as a memory to Southern's tv series 'Out of Town' which was presented by the late Jack Hargreaves. Best wishes, Nigel.

A Perfect sign-on here. So Much so it was used until Starting up for the final time on December,31 1981, At roughly 9:25 AM.

Hi. Apparently, Southern did deviate from 'Southern Rhapsody' at one point (with which tune, I do not know). However, the region's viewers would have none of that, demanding 'perfection' indeed and the Rhapsody was brought back by popular demand. I was sad to see Southern go in 1981. All the best, Nigel.
