You should be proud of your accomplishments Charles! I started martial arts when I was 26 but had to give it up because I kept getting injured…the guys were too rough on us ladies during sparring! I miss it! Pretty cool to watch this documentary of your progress.

I myself have been training Chinese martial arts for nearly 30 years, and I have studied Lung Ying Mor Kiew for nearly 30 years, and I am well versed in Pak Mei, (25 years) Chow Gar Tong Long, (23 years) Jook Lum, (20 years) and Hung Gar (20 years). Lung Ying is my lifetime style, and I am determined to master the style. I am still studying all these systems, and I plan on creating my own style based on my knowledge of all these systems.

Interesting. I am 2nd gen Ip Man and trained in Wing Chun from Hawkins Cheung (R.I.P) in Culver City, CA. He used to share a studio with Danny Inosanto who taught JKD, Pencak Silat and later BJJ that he learned from the Machado Brothers. Thnx.

As soon as I started watching this video I saw Henry's way of moving in your performance; I knew you were from his lineage before you even mentioned him. I trained under Henry for a couple of years when I lived in Ft. Pierce, Florida. Back then, he went by the name of Paul. You're probably too young to have met him, but he had the most frighteningly powerful hands I've ever encountered to this day. Since then, I've trained in Pak Mei and Uechi Ryu but never stopped my Jook Lum which is at the core of everything I do. Also look up Andy Chung videos here on KZfaq. He was a young Wing Chun instructor living in the Miami area back then who also trained under Henry with me and later learned Pak Mei. Even his Pak Mei looks like Henry's Jook Lum in expression.

@@LouMires The Disney character Mulan was modeled after his daughter, who did the physical movements that the animators overlayed with the cartoon character. Master Chan Pui helped Henry Yee get started in setting up a "formal" school, I believe. Our class used to visit his Wah Lum Temple in Orlando occasionally.

Not really Hakka Tong Long. Yee mashed up what little he got from Lum Sang's line with some Bak Mei, Lung Ying, and H'ung Gar. It's not a bad hybrid he created, it's just not SPM or anywhere near complete for that matter.

At first its look boring and hard pains in muscles you never expirence before , you doing a little exercise and not realized you work harder than fitness , its a work for years to become what GM yee understanding system, a few in this world have the tong long pai of what yee real chi force was.

Nice shock power, but more body shifting needed. For weight loss I recommend fasting-3 day first, then later 5 days, a month later 10 days, a month later 15. I also put on weight easily and the western diet generally has too much sugar and processed food.

Gordon Bryce, if you can criticize his performance. The least you could do is post a video and show us he right way how you would do it? Do you even study southern mantis or are you critiquing an art you never studied ? Looking forward to your southern mantis demo on your page doing the same exact form! We are all waiting to see your performance.
@gordonbryce
@gordonbryce 2 жыл бұрын
@@viperman2454 The main focus of Mantis, as you will be aware, is body shifting , grabbing hands , striking gow choi, and use of the rat step in closing distance. His shock power is good but the other qualities and techniques are less in evidence.For this combination to be successful your weight should drop so that you can maintain speed and stamina. My critique is fair and I recommend the Australian Mantis School for comparison.
@viperman2454
@viperman2454 2 жыл бұрын
@@gordonbryce you are trying to teach this man how to do his own art that he has been doing over 20 years. You can correct me if if I am wrong. But, You do not know his particular mantis style nor have you studied it. If feel like you can critique this mans performance. Then you must be able to do what he is doing even better otherwise you should not be criticizing him and trying to correct him. Forget about this form he was demonstrating because I am guessing you don't know it. Why not make a video demonstrating the same short shock power he was demonstrating. I would be very very impressed if you can even demonstrate 10 percent of this young mans skills you are trying to instruct. Just 10 percent!! If you can demonstrate better than this man I will apologize for calling you out and listen to what ever you have to teach. Because you can back up what you say and teach. 🙏

The youth in martial arts don't don't appreciate Mantis that's because the Mantis styles is a conflict of interest to their beliefes system Because of EGO is strong . And they have never been blessed with a being able to practice form and techniques . I to had my own questions not so much doubt But how the system worked . But lost all questions and thoughts. Of what if . And gain confidence with the Mantis styles . I is so much different than like the Northern Long fist Lohan Shaolin Kung Fu or Wu Chi Chuan or the Tiger forms . I can appreciate any and all the orther arts .
