Southern Region - Eastleigh Station in the Days of Steam

Ай бұрынEastleigh Station, just outside of Southampton, Hampshire, is still a busy station, but this movie footage show steam locomotives from around the 1960-70s (I cannot be 100% sure).
Some of the engines include Merchant Navy class 35008 "ORIENT LINE", 4472 Flying Scotsman, 34018 AXMINSTER and more.

Splendid film, and the music complements it perfectly. Caught a glimpse of 34018 Axminster which was withdrawn July 67, and 34095 Brentor which went at the same time.

Yes the film is 1st class...Please note..It is very difficult to come across any footage of the Torrington to Halwill junction line. A part of it was kept open well into the 1980,s for the china clay works at Meeth..I remember when the line carried passengers although the service was minimal..I am sure footage must exist...Thank you for your efforts. I enjoy all your films.

@@AarchiveRailways always fun, we work in Brunswick House which used to be the LSWR offices for Nine Elms yard. When our company bought it there was still a Southern Region "no naked flame" sign on the wall
