I agree. My wife died 10 years ago. We were together 57 years and married 53 of those. She is always with me. Those were the good old days.

I am so sorry for your loss. My parents were married 59 years when my dad passed 12 years ago. My mother has Alzheimers and tries to call him on the phone to come get her. My sister's husband passed away in January 2023. They were married for 38 years.❤ In 2020, my sister passed on her 66th birthday. My brother in law had just retired, and they had celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary. Life is short.❤

This has always been my favorite Judd's song. Thank you for your cover of a song that always makes me both sad & nostalgic at the same time. I'm 70 now & both grand pa's are long gone,but whenever i hear this song, it brings back precious memories of my youth. As always, you do these great songs the justice they deserve...& then some!❤

As a grandpa, I sure appreciate the meaning of these words. There are some things I wish I could communicate to my family about faith, commitment to family and hard work. They are great kids who are very trustworthy. It’s just that I want them to have those anchors for the times when hard things occur, inevitably. I feel obsolete, at times. Full of gratitude to God and wonderful people! Great performance!

I'm 76 now and I had an amazing Grandpa...the sort of person I could ask any question of. Out of our very large family, he and I were the only two who had seen the horrors of war, so we shared a special bond. It's been many years now since he was called home, but I still miss him greatly.

Love this song, it gives me a good feeling every time i hear it. I am perfectly happy to live in the good old days and i do whenever i can. Trying to eliminate anything that is not good in our lives now that our Dads have both passed away and my Mom there is no time to waste on bad things in the world. Judges 7 -God tells Gabriel to send 2700 soldiers home and with 300 defeats the Midianites and Amalakites, lest Israel think they won through their own efforts. The victory is His.

We can change this right now, today. The days of marriage lasting "till death do us part" when we say "I do," the days of taking responsibility for your actions and marrying when you have a child together; these don't have to be just fond memories of a by gone era, these things can be the norm TODAY. When we follow the example of Jesus and put those we love before our own wants then this will be reality again.

Never thought I would be the grandpa, but it has happened. She, if she had lived, would be one of the ancients like I am. Now I am old enough to be great-grandpa. Yes, we courted. And she wore heels, hat and white gloves to church. Grace at every meal. We held hands when courting. We were not boomers. She could do no wrong. We were part of the silent generation, we knew ration stamps and hard candy Christmases. We both lived with grandparents during the war. We tried each other out to see if we could do a lifetime together. We did. 60 years worth. Loved the whole thing, especially her. We expected to pass together like other long marrieds. But the cancer got her early. Gollly, how I miss her. Being grandpa with grand children and great-grandchildren on the horizon is no fun without her. Irene, I will finish my work and be home soon. What's for dinner?
