In this video I bring you along as I have a go with some Honda CRV door latches. The reason we are replacing them is because they are really loud when they lock and unlock. However they still work. At any rate the customer wants new ones so here we go. -Enjoy!

Engineers are a joke. They only know how to make the job 10 times harder and take 10 extra steps that are unnecessary. Experience and common sense will beat any engineer every time and every engineer is always "shocked" when they find out that the book they learned from was wrong .. this isn't a personal attack but I work around about 5 software engineers and about 15 engineers so let's just say I've had plenty experience with engineers.

I had a grand caravan where the window wouldn't go down, and various other issues with the drivers door. Broken wiring between the body and the door. Down to the exact color wire that was broken in his video! Multiple times I have been working on a car, and something jogs my memory about a SMA video. Quick search, and bam, he has done it before me!

When putting a screw back into plastic or wood, I always turn it backwards until I feel it drop down into the pre-existing threads. I haven’t had a problem with the screw trying to cut new threads since I started doing that 30 years ago. Well, as long as I was putting the same (right) screw back in. Lol.

You talked about when you son was little. I had my 5 year old granddaughter out in the boat yesterday and was letting her steer. After a few minutes she started asking what everything was and what it did. When we got to the throttle, her eyes light up when I explained what it did. We were going along a few more minutes, when all of a sudden, the boat took off like a rocket, my wife fell off her seat and my granddaughter is all smiles and laughing. She loves going fast.

Hey man, great video. My biggest issues were the removal and then replacing of the unit around the window track. Your advice to slide it in from the bottom was spot on, cause there really a'int room to turn and remove/install. I was beating my head on that one for a while, then I found this video. Also the metal rod detach with the retaining clip was tough. Anyway, I conquered the beast, and for a 2008 with 224K, saving the money was totally worth it! Thank you and stay busy!

The Phillips vs JIS screwdriver bit really hit home for me. My RC airplanes have little screws everywhere... and they are "Phillips" BUT they are not a #1 Phillips or a #2 Phillips. They are like a #1.25-#1.5 Phillips. I always chalked it up to crappy chinese quality control; until I discovered a "#1 JIS" was the correct size! No more stripped little tiny screws! That is the ONLY time I've ever needed to differentiate between Phillips and JIS. LOL Thanks Eric O!

I must admit you are an excellent mechanic. I have not seen you throw a tool yet. I do it at least once on every project.

Thank you sir this is going to be a lot easier on Monday when my part comes in to replace this myself instead of taking it to a dealership and pay them outrageous labor rates which I used to work at a dealership Chrysler Jeep and Dodge dealers for 20 years and thank you and have a wonderful weekend

You can't beat experience with fiddly jobs like this. Is it me or is Eric getting funnier ? Always a bonus when Mrs O appears no matter how briefly.

Thank you! My 20-year-old daughter just used your video to fix her noisy locks. The actuator died years ago when it was still my husband's car. No more embarrassing loud locks!
