He really knew all of the history of the station from its inception to today 😎😎👍👍Also he's very well spoken *** I love the Wolfpack nickname and the story behind how Station 13 got it * ** Maybe someday Station 13 will be given an upgrade and maybe a more spacious location for all of the Crew to have a little more room to not be on top of each other 🙏🙏🙏🙏

I really love the duty T-shirts worn by your firefighters on these Station Saturday episodes. Each house is different in a way and having special Ts is a way to honor history but we all do the same job, "Putting The Wet Stuff on the Red Stuff" no matter what station or department we come from. Very cool series of videos and you all do it very well. 👍

I have worked at a five engine one squad station. I have also worked at a engine one squad station. I had my better times at smaller stations. It’s just a really awesome experience. I am also impressed by his wealth of knowledge of Station history!

It's really amazing how well adapted to the modern requirements even this old station is. SMFR is really showing how it's done to a lot of other departements around the world. Meanwhile I'm running rescue from a station that still has three floors, connected by a non-regulation stairwell and no poles. But the district decided they'd give us an official extension to response times (2 minutes at daytime, 3 at night - as opposed to 1 minute at all times they demand of other stations) rather than remodelling/rebuilding the station after two of our buddies fell down the stairs on a pediatric resus call... :/
@wilson41802 жыл бұрын
I feel your pain. 2 out of 3 of our stations were built before plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and OSHA were even a thought. It looks cool on the outside but spending 24hrs in them sucks, especially during winter. Freezing cold.

When departments merge with South Metro does SMFR adopt anything from those departments? For example I know Littleton operated the larger commercial chassis ambulances whereas SMFR operates with van chassis ambulances. I also saw Littleton ran rear mount ladders while SMFR operates mid mount aerials. Does the SMFR just phase those out for their own stuff or do those things get evaluated to see if they could potentially be used to benefit the whole organization?
@schnemannfilms2 жыл бұрын
South Metro adapted the Littleton design "black over red" for example.
@nicholasyoung80172 жыл бұрын
@@schnemannfilms oh. Is the black over red going to be department wide now? I wasn't aware of that.
@some0ne82 жыл бұрын
@@nicholasyoung8017 Yes. It's also been said that the International crew cab ambulances will be replaced with standard ambulances when the time comes.

Yes that was a reserve in the station
@MB121162 жыл бұрын
You should do a fleet Friday on engine 13, it looks different than the other. Also, does smfr keep it’s reserve rigs fully stocked, or do crews transfer gear over?
@centralcofirebuff78302 жыл бұрын
Engine 13 was in reserve during this video but I believe the front line engine is similar to Engine 16 which a fleet Friday has been done on, and crews will transfer gear over to the reserve apparatus when they need to switch
@MB121162 жыл бұрын
@@centralcofirebuff7830 that’s what I thought. Would still be neat to get a fleet Friday on some of the reserve rigs.

So just looking at jobs post-army, what types of things are there for hazmat in firefighting especially in South Metro FD
@SouthMetroFireRescuePIO2 жыл бұрын
All Firefighters at South Metro are trained to Haz-Mat Operations level and there are opportunities to join the Haz-Mat Team where personnel are trained to Technician level. Those members staff Engines or Medic Units full-time and cross-staff a Hazardous Materials Emergency Response and Decontamination vehicle when needed. They respond district wide on large fuel spills, substance investigations or releases/spills.

QUESTION HERE! What’s the difference between a “Engine” & a “Pumper”?
@SouthMetroFireRescuePIO2 жыл бұрын
Engine and Pumper usually mean the same thing, some regions just use different names to describe them. An Engine/Pumper carries water (500 gallons or more) a pump (usually 1,250 gallons per minute or more) and various diameter and lengths of hose. In Colorado Pumper is a vintage term and Engine is the common name now.

Hmmm can a day in a Life at Station 184 and 181 occur and the Fleet friday
@Spitfire85202 жыл бұрын
Stations 181 and 184 belong to a neighboring department called Franktown Fire Protection District. That department is not part of SMFR, so there probably will not be any tours of those station by SMFR. They are great neighbors, so you will hear them responding to help SMFR a lot, and SMFR will help out with their calls!

I've got a question I've noticed you running red and blue lights on your fire and emergency vehicles why are you running that combo I've learned police are red and blue and fire and emergency vehicles are red lights only?
@SouthMetroFireRescuePIO2 жыл бұрын
In Colorado, State law allows any emergency vehicle (police, fire ems) to have any combination of red, blue, white and amber emergency lights. Each department can choose what they like best.
