I’ve also flown on both the -700, and -800, and i’ve also flown on the -900. I think that the 737-700 looks a bit better and more agile with it’s shorter fuselage but obviously the 737-800 and -900 are a more comfortable ride.

NovejSpeed3 Well, I do agree sorta, but remember, the -700's do not have the official Boeing Sky interior with mood lighting. The -700 I do not believe is best for some international routes as the range capabilities get quite slim

Ahhhh ok very true about the sky interior maybe that's what he was referring to. (shrug) The -800 is def. the payload vs range king of the 37s. However, CURRENTLY the 700 can do all the international missions the -800 is utilized on. Including the hot and high MEX runs. (albeit with less passengers and cargo) Like I said the biggest difference that the -800 brings is southwest must now maintain ETOPS compliance (which it didn't previously have) Other than that this (and the sky interior upgrades you mentioned) the -800 really isn't a completey new aircraft to them. In fact its a very familiar one is all I was trying to point out. Now with that being said, you are also right should WN decide to start incorporating even longer international legs (5hrs+) the -800 will be the go to.............and they'll still only feed you pretzles and peanuts free LOL

Because it's cheaper for maintenance and pilot training. Also it is irrelevant to have a 747 for domestic flights. So it basically saves them money. Because it's cheaper they're able to buy more planes with pilots that have cheap pilot training which saves more money allowing to open more routes for the company which then generates greater profit.
