I wouldnt go there with it TBH, as the distinction between 'commerce' and 'not commerce' is what defines and implicitly states that you DO need a license for non-commercial driving. In other words, if we have a sovcit claiming RTT and license only applies to commerce, we then point to the CDL, which clearly defines "commerce", and establishes that one needs a specific license for it, and thus any other use (such as personal errands) require a standard license. The important point being that either way, a license IS required. If you start playing loose with definitions to make things fit laws that dont really apply, you open the door for these jackasses to waste even more time, and possibly to actually win cases by arguing minutiae of applicative definition.

Not really. Commerce is hauling something for someone else and being paid for the service. It goes deeper than that, but is basically what it is. The federals control the rules and licensing of commercial transportation, which is true. What this fellow and his buddies of the solvcit nation are doing is acknowledging federal control of commerce, but claiming the states cannot administer private transportation due to the freedom to travel. They just plain do not acknowledge the Tenth Amendment, and that it gives the states the power to administrate private transportation. It is just further nit picking that they are famous for.
