My favorite of The Cure, I would always ask this one first if one to chose live. But I think it's the hardest one to reprodude live. The Figurehead works better probably, that's my second go to.

He's using a Rickenbacker, which was always Lemmy's preferred weapon of choice. I can't get that sound cos I don't use picks nor effects pedals etc. I should experiment a bit more using my Warwick & get more from the active pickups

This is a bad-ass song. Love that they still bring the slowed-down echo effect to the live version vocals as well. The Pornography album is like a serial killer's diary revealed. So delightfully sinister!!!

His playing was what first grabbed me. I am a bass loving lady! As I got older, I started to listen to Robert. His playing and effects master most out there. When I stared seeing articles and interviews that were just about his playing effects. I can not think of another band so well deserving of the "American" Rock Hall of Fame

Simon's bass tone is magnificently monstrous here! As a reference, I went to every tour of theirs from 1980 through 1992 and too often they were so amped up that too many songs were played at the same fast tempo. It was hard to tell whether it was the drugs or the band playing.

I'm a dummy. Realised that Simon is using a Rickie (Rickenbacker) so hence the slight distortion effect. It never let Lemmy down through the decades
@vincent88335 жыл бұрын
Yes Simon plays a Rickenbacker, as it was the bass used for the Pornography album and tour. His is usually jet-black with a white pick guard. This one here is all black.

If you listen to the live versions of this from the Pornography tour in '82, they are spellbinding - Fatboy plays some incredible, wailing, wall of sound guitar. Here, his voice is outstanding, but the music is (to me) very disappointing in comparison. My fave song of theirs.

Fatboy was/is the affectionate nickname that Siouxsie bestowed upon him. Mentioned with reverence, not scorn…
@emmapeel38 Жыл бұрын
@@RoyDunn I think that was more out of scorn; I could see her giving an updated and revised version of that though. I agree with what you're saying though, about it sounding better in '82.
