15 жыл бұрынDoubleheader with Southern Pacific steam locomtives 2472 and 4449 running from San Jose to Watsonville and back. First scene was shot just outside Watsonville. Second was in Watsonville. Third was westbound at the Gillroy wigwag signal (later removed in 1995). This was the last wigwag signal on the SP Coastline in the SF Bay Area and by now was only protecting a pedestrian crossing.

I love that wigwag action in Gilroy. It was replaced with two crossing flashers by SP in the 90's.

Southern Pacific 4-6-2 Pacific 2472 doubleheading with 4-8-4 GS-4 4449 from San Jose to Watsonville and return.

You're right. I forgot that they had locomotives as big as cab forwards in the canyon. 4449 would be able to run there, but yeah the speeds would be much slower in most areas. smaller engines like 2467 would go as fast as 60 with regular passenger trains.

Comparing 4449 with 2472 is like comparing Kimbo Slice with Verne Troyer.

Jemalacane by no means! 4449 is much more powerful than 2467, but her smaller size allows her to speed through the canyon on sharper curves than 4449. 4449 would go at most 50 through the canyon.
