I was in the library watching it in Junior high when Challenger was destroyed. It was something I will never forget. It was the Kennedy assassination of our time. The irony is that the SRB is what caused the problem in both the movie and real life. Kind of ruined the movie for me. The other ironic part is some of the shuttle launch footage IS Challenger and some of Columbia. Sadly both the movie was released and the tragedy occurred in 1986. But Neither of the real shuttles are there today that were shown. Just like the end footage is actually from the white sands landing of Columbia.

@KFieLdGaming7 жыл бұрын
That's hilarious. Democrats used to be the ones bashing Republicans for their McCarthyism. Now Democrats want war with Russia, and Trump wants to work with them in areas that are agreeable, and Democrats call him a Russian puppet. Sometimes I wonder just how long it's gonna take for the red-baiters to release just how idiotic they sound. You want to hate Trump? Fine by me. Plenty of logical and legitimate reasons to criticize him. Buying into this hysteria that he's somekind of secret Russian operative on Putin's payroll is pure fucking lunacy. And the more people who buy into this bullshit, the more average Americans are going to find it idiotic and that will practically assure Trump's re-election in 2020. There's zero tangible evidence that Trump and anyone in his campaign conspired or colluded with the Russian government. Period. Full stop. If tangible evidence becomes available, I'll be the first one to review it and take it seriously... but until such a time happens, this is all 100% partisan politics. And people wonder why the Democratic base is shrinking and shrinking. There's more registered Republicans in the country than there is Democrats. That's unheard of. And it's because Democrats are becoming Independents at a high rate. Every time a Democrat opens his mouth about Trump being a Russian puppet, all they're doing is turning people off and worsening their chances of re-taking the government. There's no evidence. People have been waiting for evidence for months now. Something. ANYTHING. All there is is speculation and circumstantial "meetings" or phone-calls with the official Russian ambassador to the United States. There's plenty of valid and normal reasons for such conversations. How about going against Trump on his policies? How about making a valid case to the American people as to why they should vote for a Democrat instead of "I'm not Trump". Hillary lost because her message to the American people was "TRUMP IS BAD. I'M NOT TRUMP". Period. People are tired of this Russia nonsense, and it's because it's nothing more than a smear backed up by zero evidence. Russia meddled, yes. Just like they have in every election before this one. And don't let anyone, even the intelligence agencies, tell you that they haven't. And don't believe for a second that we don't do it to them clandestinely. -A space-loving Independent.

@sol25446 жыл бұрын
The G-forces on a shuttle are low compared to other craft. They would be fine, it would be more like a rollercoaster than a traditional spacecraft. The shuttle also never flew outside the Van Allen belts, meaning that they wouldn't take on radiation that would hurt them. Hell, even if they did, they would need to spend several months outside it for it to hurt
