So, is this technically the most expensive music video ever made?
@JayG666Ай бұрын
Yes. It cost billions, decades and a lot of dead Astronauts.

I love that with the load restrictions (weight and cost) on what could be sent up to space, a guitar was allowed, which then gave us this one-of-a-kind music video.

Yes because space is real and these people aren't just green screening it! These people have done a great job brainwashing the masses.

The most epic video of the human history. Colonel, you have inspired a whole generation. You've made space exploration (and science, in general) interesting and fun, even for those who are not space fans. Thank you so much.

Imagine David Bowie sitting there on Earth and seeing this for the first time. He apparently loved it and called it one of the most poignant versions of his song. Must have been a bizarre feeling seeing a real-life astronaut, orbiting Earth singing your own lyrics you'd written decades earlier about sitting in a tin can and seeing the blue Earth below.
@keithm.4043 ай бұрын
He did, he commented, "Hallo Spaceboy".

This is The Video that inspired me to learn again, to do science. And although I've surrendered my dreams about the space and gone to the palaeontology, it doesn't change my gratitude to you. As well as Bowie, of course. I wander if you ever read this (the chance is low, I guess), but in case of this - thank you for this act of creativity which was (and is) so important to me!

Y'know, KZfaq's algorithm is kinda iffy. But, man, do they recommend some amazing videos from time to time. This is definitely on the latter side. Mr Bowie would be proud! I've always imagined that if an astronaut were in space, "Starman", "Space Oddity" or "Moonage Daydream" would be playing in the background to add some levity to the situation.

My Grade 1 music teach always showed us videos of Chris Hadfield, and ever since then he's always been one of my most favorite people in the world. She also made us learn O' Canada in French so that's a neat skill I guess.

Good job! You really left the pounce to catch the guitar before it impacted until the last second. Obviously you guys get very good at judging that stuff. :-) I kinda gotta wonder about the guy who put that sealant on the viewing window, though, unless that was done in space. In the first case (if done on Earth), he should have been smacked up side the head. If it was done in space, he should be congratulated wholeheartedly. I don't think that window has ever been replaced (it cost a buck or two) since it was installed, but it would surprise me if it was. I wouldn't trust that damned Soyuz to take me to the grocery store, if you put it in the back of a pickup. You guys have balls, I'll give you that! I wonder if Bowie has seen this. I'll bet he got a real kick out of it if he did.

I wish Bowie got the chance to see this shit. Truly incredible production here, Chris.
@realdrewstory11 ай бұрын
He did. This was originally posted quite a few years ago. Bowie stated before his death this was his favourite of all covers of his songs. When it first dropped, an exec from Bowies label tried to have it removed. Bowie flipped out on the guy, and thus, the video remained.

I'm not aware if you actually monitor this but I have a thought in case ya do. I was watching the in-flight video about what playing guitar in micro G was like. (seriously, thank you for those. You answered every question I had since I saw the first photos of guitars on orbit in Soviet space stations) I noticed you tended to bear hug the instrument if your feet weren't stable. Your fellow countryman has already fixed this. You need to get with Alex and get his stand flying! "SCE to AUX kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qLeHnq2azbjYfKc.htmlsi=Xxin0KblBxboHogB
