The way my jaw DROPPED when you brought up heaven’s gate I have no idea how I never noticed that

Soooo, the song could be explained as Apollo trying to convince Simon to commit suicide to reach heaven, but Simon finally realizes the heaven he has been loking was fake all along. I feel fullfilled

I'd have to say, the French section is probably the best part of the song. Idk why, it just fits in a really weird way despite the song being in Japanese. Plus, in Sweet Dream in Sea Major, is the only other time we hear French lyrics. I really like how almost all these songs reference eachother in some way.

Your split personality theory with Apollo fits in perfectly with how I interpret The Mind Electric. For anyone reading that doesn't know, electroconvulsive therapy is a form of treatment on those with dissociative identity disorder. It involves sending an electric current through your brain with the intent of "fixing" what's wrong with you. Which makes lines like "doctor, I can't tell if I'm not me" hit real hard. Considering that Simon's best course of legal action is pleading insanity, it'd make since why treatment like that would be administered.

I always interpreted "fifteen years later the waiting time has ended" as Betty being fifteen and the wait for her death was over, which also made sense with Simon saying in The Mind Electric that he was "just a boy", but I think your interpretation with Heavens Gate makes much more sense

okay, heres my interpetation of the french part : - "un ensemble d'enfants (a group of children) " is a sign of simon seeing heaven , or aka dead children playing inside heaven , and which also can be actually right from the lyrics "Go to sleep, my beautiful children , We (or more like THEY, the new people entering heaven) will be waiting for your cheerful eyes" - "la galaxie s'etend (the galaxie extends) " which in my opinion, simon explaining how insanely nice heaven can be , as in seeing how the galaxie extends just infront of you when ur in heaven - "jardin de l'imagination" now here simon tells us that heaven is like the paradise we humans dream of, in our imagination, a place like a huge cozy chill garden with whatever you please - "je dois dire bonsoir (i must say goodnight) " now i interpet this as simon , wanting to say to his lover "goodnight / goodbye" before he enters heaven, only for apollo to say - "go ahead an you'll live forever tonight (lance toi et tu vivras toujours ce soir)" and thats where simon realises that heaven is a lie and all what he knew his entire life as "paradise" was only a delusion made by an unknown human for centuries who tried coping with the fact of his random existence

Space Station Level Seven has got to be my favorite song from the album after Dream Sweet In Sea Major, which just made it even worse that I never quite understood it. I vaguely understood the connection to Heaven's Gate, but a lot of the subtext was lost on me. That leaves Labyrinth as the last major hole in my interpretation of the story. I found something a few days ago that backs up your theory a bit that I don't know if you know about because I couldn't find it anywhere on the internet - it was already known that TME samples an audio book of Plato's Apology as one of the background voices ("Then I knew that not by wisdom do poets write poetry, but by a sort of genius, an inspiration. They are like diviners and soothsayers, who also say many fine things, but do not understand the meaning of them.") I found another part in the song that I'd never seen anyone mention before. where it samples the same audio book, "Chaerephon is dead himself, but his brother, who is in court, will confirm the truth of this story. Why do I mention this? Because I am going to explain to you why I have such an..." This is referring to the story of Chaerephon going to see the oracle at Delphi to ask if any man is wiser than Socrates, which there is a THIRD sample referencing, "...speaks with the tongue of Apollo" is played in reverse near the beginning of the reverse part of the song, which is from a film depiction of Chaerephon's visit to the oracle. TME samples two different mentions of Chaerephon's visit to the oracle at Delphi to consult Apollo, and including these, the song has at least 3 clips from media about the trial of Socrates, a guy who was sentenced to death for doing something that he believed Apollo told him to do. (Socrates believed he was on a mission from Apollo to enlighten people and help them see the truth, that they're not really as wise as they think. The rulers of Athens saw this as corrupting the youth, but Socrates said it would go against Apollo's will for him to stop, so he wouldn't unless they executed him.) Socrates famously said "All I know is that I know nothing." Descartes said that while the universe could be an illusion and you can know nothing for certain, you can at least tell that, because you're actively thinking at the present moment, you at least must exist. Simon's "I can't tell if I'm not me" I think means he doesn't even know if it's him that's doing the thinking, so he can't be certain of anything - it could be said that he "knows nothing" under Descartes' philosophy

Something I find important, is that the French part is the same as the French part in the final song (dream sweet in sea major.) This could be meaning nothing, but I have a feeling that it could mean something or a connection between both of the songs.

That monster you mentioned is most likely an Anglerfish, and the moon is its bulb. In my drawings of Apollo (I called him the Earl King before I watched your video), he is a stalky, shriveled, grotesque man with Charcoal colored skin that looked like sandpaper, a cloud of dust and smoke constantly present at his feet. Apollo's head is that of an Anglerfish. He is Simon's Schizophrenia given an imaginary body, something that only looms in Simon's mind. *However, this is an artistic interpretation, not a theory.* I've believe that while Simon is represented by a White Whale and Stella/Betty is represented by a Stella Octangula, Apollo is represented by an Anglerfish. The bulb on its head is shown as the moon itself on the album, symbolizing how Apollo is luring Simon.

Now this is very dependent on your interpretation of The Mind Electric, But it could be possible “15 years later” could be referring to the duration of time that Simon was on death row for, If you believe that Simon was being executed in TME as apposed to shock therapy, Assuming that interpretation is true, It’s very plausible, As prisoners on death row in the US take on average over a decade to be executed, OVER a decade
