I'm a 3ds Max user but I just subscribed. Regardless of your package, there is always a LOT you can learn from other software. And they always use great speakers at this conference

CallMeLum yeah! They're good at giving you ideas rather than technical step by step stuff, and you learn something at the same time!

It's a blast talking with so many enthusiastic Blender folks at the conference too, definitely walk away inspired! Pretty much what everyone does there blows my mind! :D I used to work with Maya and found that Blender made a great accompaniment to it so multiple softwares can work pretty nicely together. :) Aidy.

THIS is the right attitude. They're all just tools. It kills me all the people out there continually harping on what is "industry standard" or "professional" software when the audience doesn't care and can't tell the difference.

It's called "problem solving", not "cheating".
@blengine6 жыл бұрын
I lean heavily in that direction too! I guess part of the point is there will always be a little trade off between authenticity and illusion. :) Aidy.

"cheating" in the sense that it was not done by the way it usually is

So many great things have happened this year to Blender. And so many are waiting to happen in the future. :)

Disculpen podrian poner subtitulos en español a sus videos? Siempre intento verlos pero con los subtitulos automaticos no se entiende del todo bien. Muchas gracias

1:16 “You may think it’s a long way down the road to the chemist” etc.

1:53 Scientists do that, too. Only they call it by fancy mathematical terms like “assume a spherical cow”...
@blengine6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Lawrence I like that! :) Aidy.

We must also assume there is no friction.

It's nice but not really scientific render, more Star wars than 2001 Space Odyssey ! I would like to have the same render than SpaceEngine... more realistic !

Why can't you use a color ramp in a node group?
@Lumpappsofficial6 жыл бұрын
Joseph Cotter You can, you just can't control them. There is no way to plug the slides into an input.
@joseph.cotter6 жыл бұрын
ty, yes... forgot about that ;) Brings up a good point though. It would be good to be able to save node groups with dedicated inputs other then just a connector type. i.e. If a node group could be saved with a named input attached to the group such as a color ramp etc... it would be helpful in many situations. Say, have a frame that had a node group or node groups with exposed components rather then having to drill into a node group to access the specific items we want to be able to adjust but are buried in the node group.
@lawrencedoliveiro91046 жыл бұрын
There are alternative ways. For example, you could implement a ramp as an OSL script, with inputs controlling the inflection points. That would give you the extra control you need. E.g. osl-gen-ramp github.com/ldo/osl_useful
@joseph.cotter6 жыл бұрын
Those are interesting scripts but don't really provide the function of having an actual color ramp or lift/gama/gain control outside but attached to a group in a way that can be easily saved/imported. The ability to save a 'frame' would do this and would be very helpful.
@lawrencedoliveiro91046 жыл бұрын
You put one of them into a script node, and the parameters automatically appear as input and output terminals. So in a node group you can wire them to group inputs/outputs.

BOOO! CHEATERS! :-) Great work, great speech. Whole visual art is cheating by definition, so what?
@blengine6 жыл бұрын
hahaa! ;) Thanks! Embrace the illusion! :D Aidy
