Fun Fact: "Those little robots"(sentinels) aren't so little, they're about 2 meters long and are made of bs nie indestructible space metal patented by the forerunners, can move in any direction at theoretically any speed, have energy shields tough enough to(in lore) shrug off high velocity projectiles and anything short of an archer missile with a weird vulnerability to falling rocks and are specifically designed to make as short work as possible of varying scales of flood outbreak with a weirdly unexplored and unexplained resistance to the flood's capability to repurpose technology. there are 3 variants of medium sentinels, standard(silver, yellow beam weapon), commander(gold, white hot beam weapon), and one from infinite that I don't know what it's called using a weapon the banished likely derived their shock rifles from. overall "sentinel(s)" refer to any nonsentient machines the forerunners created. constructors, enforcers, the halo wars 2 iteration of enforcers and retrievers are other examples of sentinels seen in games and explored in the books. do I type to much? probably, does it matter? unlikely.

while that would have been amazing to see, i can fan theory why they didn't do it. The oynx sentinels were designed with a military purpose, their AI would have been directed towards using their weapons to destroy intruders. The arks sentinels were maintence drones, not designed for combat at all beyond it been a last ditch effort (had the ark been attacked it meant all was lost anyway). Their AI is designed to maintain and prevent damage, so they will have analysed the situation and deemed that disabling (via cutting in 2) was the best course of action rather than destorying with a direct attack (and risking a secondary detonation which could harm the ark). They may also have not had that capacity, different sentinel designs afterall due to different factions building the instilations (the lesser ark was primarily a lifeworker project, the shield worlds were builder/warrior-servant projects), so they'd get their versions of sentinels.

@@cgi2002 My thoughts too. And even then, the brute force method of crashing into it was executed with typical Forerunner percision, cutting a straight line through the ship, presumably at it's most vulnerable point.

We might not see them being made specifically but this battle takes place over the ark. There are most likely automated systems in place to make new Sentinels. Not only that, their weapons were probably not capable of destroying the ship fast enough to prevent significant damage to the ark. In the end, it does make sense for them to saw the ship in half pending those two statements are true. In the end, it's a video game based on completely unrealistic circumstances set 500 years in the future so I don't think being 'unrealistic' is much of an issue. Tbh, Halo is made to be more cool than reasonable anyway lol. ie the opening cutscene to Halo 3 where the Chief falls from literal space onto the surface of Earth and survives.

@@dandcc9192 Unattractive is not realistic. Cortana is also not "over the top" attractive. Isabel's portrayal is the opposite of real. This flavor of "immersion" screams ESG and her casting invokes a panel of green hairs sitting around a table. Roland had personality, not so much looks. Isabel lacks both.
