Thoroughly enjoyable, Billy! - Carl Perkins is often unrightfully overshadowed by the other Sun cats, and it's important to emphasise the strong bond he had with John Cash and Elvis, as well as recognising him as an important pioneer of early rock and roll. I think your interviews with Stan have been equally enjoyable and informative. As always, thank you for the great content!

I remember when Carl died: I gone to Sun Records, and it was closed, the studio door had a reef of flowers on it for Carl, I was the only one on the side walk, and there was no traffic on the road, I walked back to my hotel, not really knowing how I was feeling, cause I had never that way before or since. Thank you Billy and Stan, Carl was a true musician.

Well I can relate to driving around the beltway in a circle, as I did the same thing on the Baltimore/Washington Beltway. lol My mother never told me I had to get off the dang thing. hahaha She woke up too and said why are we still on this, have you been driving in circles? Guess so! So this gave me a good laugh. Such good stories, love the luggage one, well loved them all. I think you could keep on talking to Stan Perkins and keep getting lots of stories. Thank you Mr. Perkins for sharing your stories with us fans.

a great raconteur, really enjoy listening to his stories. What I like about those early guys is that they weren't trying to be rock stars, there wasn't a rule book about how to behave, they were just themselves. Completely real and authentic. Nice video Spa Guy!

Thank you for this interview! I was born and raised in Memphis, i love to hear about the early days of rock n roll. My mother was from lake. County Tennessee where Carl Perkins was from. My dad always said the reason so many great singers came out of this part of the country was you learned how to sing or you chopped cotton!

Great stories from Stan Perkins. Carl Perkins got out and made it happen one way or the other. That really surprised me in previous video of this series were Stan said Carl & Elvis met at a concert? in like 1958-9? for the last time and never met again. Never would have guessed that would be the case in this era. Keep 'em comin' SG. Thanks again.

Hi Stan, Roy Cost in Arkansas. I hope you remember me as I used to play you on my internet radio show ...that was in early 2000. I loved your baby chicks story and it was sad about the hunting accident. . I recorded one record with Bill Black at the controls. That was 1964. We, the Arkansas ' "The Shadows" recorded "You Can Count On Me"/"Ketchy". We had a guest piano player, the late Jack Nance from Newport, AR. On the way over to Memphis Jack showed me his '''gold record award''' for co-writing '''It's Only Make Believe''' and that sure gave me the rock and roll fever. Bill B. was so great and let us do our own thing. I would have liked to have gotten on Hi Records but we had to settle on my own, label VEGA. In 1969 I did "East Of Tulsa"/"Afre You Really My Girl" by The Music Shoppe at the new Lynn-lou studio managed by Larry Rogers.. Those were great years for young artists. God Bless you and your future projects..

Compelling stories from Stan thanks for bringing them to us. Just watched all three videos on the bounce. A lot of stuff I didn't know about Carl and Johnny helping each other through the bad times ( rather than June as depicted in the film). They were from the same background about the same age and had the same careers. It's a shame that Elvis didn't have anyone to help him through who was in the same position as he was. Even the Beatles realised how tough it must have been for Elvis as a solo artist and they related that to him I believe that they had each other went they went through the craziness of fame. They were huge fans of Elvis and Carl. Theres a great special made in the 80's where Carl is playing with George and Ringo and Eric Clapton. You've never seen George look so happy as when he was playing with Carl. That was a special show...it's probably on KZfaq somewhere.

Wow Carl went thru some challenging times...foot & hand accidents. Relearning to play guitar with 3 fingers on one hand. Johnny & Carl ( & Elvis ) were true Prodical Sons ... Know The Lord ...backslide....return to a closer walk with God. Lots of brass in music white collars wanted Carl Johnny & Elvis to cool it went it came to the gospel as it did not sell nevertheless they all in their own way have let it known that their faith in a living God was very real & not plastic. Carl made his mark on this world. Happy to see Stan is not ashamed of the gospel ( as it is the power of salvation to those that believe...heaven or hell issue. ) Johnny Elvis Carl & other past greats in music that shared their faith has set the stage for the present entertainers to have a faith message in their songs or interviews...like the song: Jesus take the wheel. Thank you for these part 1-2-3 with Stan the man Perkins. Very enjoyable in deed.

thank heaven Carl's single of 'Blue Suede Shoes' was recorded before that fan accident.one of my favorite solos. but I have tapes of him soloing in the 70's & 80's on TV and you wouldn't think he was limited, finger wise ,at all. Al Kooper said that recording changed his whole life.I suppose his pinky wouldn't make a hell of a difference, but that augmented chord at the outro of 'blue suede shoes' requires a pinky
