I watch many people that want to come live to Portugal And Portuguese people saying that this is a shitty country and things like that, I'm from Madeira Island and I'm living now in Porto. and I can tell that we have a shitty economy but that everyone knows but what not everyone realizes is that we are afortunate for living in a such sunny and beautiful country, a place where people in Hollidays to enjoy our mountains, our beaches, And our amazing food, one thing I can tell to every people from foreign countries that If you don't have studies or some kind of special abilities or money moving to Portugal is an horrible idea specially if you have family like a wife/husband and kids, in that case you should choose a country with a strong economi and come to Portugal in Hollidays, but if you are old and retired and want an awesome place to live.. please.. you're welcome... if you have qualifications and work experience and you just don't give up of you want... please you're welcome to, just. remember, awesome mountains, awesome beaches, awesome food, awesome people, but shitty economy Tks for spending the time to Read this.

Argentinean guy here: I came the first time to Portugal (Lisbon) for a girl, because I thought she was beautiful. The second time that I came, it was because I fell in love with her. In a few months I will come back (to Porto) because I fell in love with the Country. Anyone who thinks that Portugal is a shitty country, either is filthy rich (and cocky) ignorant (because Portugal have so, so, so, SO MUCH to offer), or plain stupid: as a guy from South America, I couldn´t choose any other country in Europe to try to settle.

We have many problems, like bad economy and bad politicians (actually our economy is strugling just because our gutless politicians) But we both have fantastic people, quality of life, history, picturesque villages... We definitely have to work together!! I am very happy of your work here, trying to spread reasonable and objective information about Portugal and Spain... Thank you for doing so. Please do not pay attention to these Portuguese saying to the English people to go away. I find English people very polite, well educated and friendly. They are one of most polite people I´ve met. They are more than welcomed here in this country and they only helped us to grow in different ways. Please enjoy our country, because we Portuguese obviously can´t figure out how to do that.

João Félix iv never heard that from the videos iv watched. Most people say that Portugal is very welcoming to everyone. I mean it probably doesnt help when people come to the country expecting them to automatically know english or wjatever other language. I'd say go home to 😂 If I lived in Portugal, I plan on 10 years. I'm learning the language now. Just started. If the people didn't even attempt to try and speak the native language I'd probably go on and help in Portuguese and allow them to not know what I'm saying anf for them to blindly follow me around 😂

We went to Portugal for vacation from the US and it was wonderful. All of the people we met were patient with us and very helpful. We spent time in Lisboa, Coimbra, Guimaraes, Braga, Barcelos, and a tiny town called Vieira do Minho. The history is so rich. The food was excellent (the seafood and the wine). There was a time when we weren't sure where to go for the bus and an older gentleman, who didn't speak English but understood my Spanish, walked us to the correct spot and made sure we knew how to get back. Your country deserves much better than what it has suffered under. Your people are lovely.

There is another reason to come to Portugal, if you live in a region called Beira Baixa in Castelo Branco city, you have a good industrial zone right between Lisbon and Madrid, two capitals that are only 2:30 hours distant. The weather is also very good with a lot of sun during all year. If you want to install a company and want to export, this is the right place.

Hi and thanks for the comment. I sometimes cross the border at Monfortinho and take the motorway near Castelo Branco. I imagine it is cheaper to live in than one of the bigger cities. Thanks for sharing your ideas.
@disnox6902
@disnox6902 7 жыл бұрын
Very much cheaper and you can buy a big property instead of a small one for the same price or even cheaper. Here you can go to the beach on the portuguese coast, skying in the spanish mountains or in the Serra da Estrela in Portugal, choosing between the countryside and two big cities (Madrid or Lisbon) whenever you want. In the Castelo Branco region you have everything you need. It's the best place in the Iberian peninsula where you can use all the advantages of the European Union.

The issue with the economy comes down to years of missplaced investment of European funds, after the complicated economical background we inherited from a 50 yr dictatorial regime and a pointless war that cost us more than money - it cost us a large portion of our youth and our work force. Most of the money the country got from the EU in the 80s and 90s was put into infrastructure, on roads and bridges. While we needed some serious renovation of these vital lines of communication to ease logistics in more isolated areas of the country (and facilitate imports and exports within the EU), we ended up with very little left to boost education and specialized skills. More recently we've seen a large number of graduates finish their higher education with great skillsets, but because there was never the initiative or money to invest in local industry in the past those people now need to look for work outside the country. It's bittersweet to see that Portuguese scientists, engineers and researchers are rather good at what they do because, despite their success they still have to achieve it outside their own country. Hopefully in time these same people will decide to come back and create new enterprises and businesses so we can capitalize on so much untapped potential. Investors are starting to believe in that same potential, so there's hope for the future. We're more than a tourist destination, we are rather good at making high quality stuff and providing good reliable services. The world just doesn't know it yet.

Thanks, but I've been trying and having found anything good, that's why I'm not sure what the most popular sites are. So far the prices don't look very attractive compared to Spain.

How come? …even in Algarve realstate is way cheaper than Madrid!
@kc4ril
@kc4ril 7 жыл бұрын
Well because in Spain I can find something an apartment with 2 bedrooms in the center of Barcelona starting from 90k euros, or near Barcelona for 50k euros, but it seems like most of the places I could find in Portugal that are near Lisbon are over 100k Euros, and even other areas don't seem cheap either. But as I said I don't know the best options for searching Portugal, I have 5 sights I use for searching Spain and that's probably one of the reasons I get better results there. I'm a bit disappointed that the author of this video didn't provide any links at all, and so far no one answered with any links either. I'd really like more specific information as I'm trying to carefully consider my options. I'm sure Portugal is a great country but so far my searches for real estate seals didn't return many results.

Lisbon is a capital (therefore prices will be dearer) and Barcelona is not (therefore prices will be cheaper) How much are they in Madrid or Porto? Find out, then you'd compare Lisbon & Madrid, or Barcelona & Porto. Try remax.pt, good luck
@kc4ril
@kc4ril 7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your perspective but I disagree with your conclusions because first of all I have searched Madrid a bit in the past and it's often slightly cheaper then Barcelona making it much cheaper then Lisbon, or I should repeat what I have seen in Lisbon because no one has offered many links to popular sites there so for now I only have rightmove to go by. But anyways let's see an example of a two bedroom place in Madrid for 70k Euros in the link bellow. As far as I could tell it's difficult to find anything in Lisbon for that price. www.rightmove.co.uk/overseas-property/property-49866012.html
