I want to do them all! Right now we've been using Homeschool languages as it seemed the best to just build up vocabulary you use everyday. We also have a subscription for the themed packs and have done a couple of them. They are very good. I want to add Beautiful Mundo for our Morning Time, but the price.... keeping an eye out for a sale.

I’ve been searching for a Spanish curriculum for years now! But I’ve wanted something more immersive since we’re a Spanish speaking family and don’t need to start from scratch. I think Llamitas is perfect for us. I need something more structured that helps me teach them how to read. This curriculum reminded me a lot of the good and beautiful…but in Spanish. So excited! But I may also want to invest in the beautiful mundo curriculum since it has a lot of songs/poems/stories.

I think your comparison of "the good and the beautiful" but in Spanish is a good descriptor for Llamitas, I've thought that same thing about the format and approach. Llamitas will be having their back to school sale starting on August 7th--I'll post about it in my community tab, if you want to take advantage of the deal they're offering. The booklist from Beautiful Mundo is available on their website if you just want to pull from that for book ideas, too!

Hello, do they have this sale every Aug.? Perhaps I should wait. Have you heard of Sonrisas? Any feedback on that one? It's quite pricey, not sure if it's worth it. I am a spanish speaker and my girls understand 90 percent of instructions, they are eager to learn more which I am so grateful for. Speaking it has been a challenge since they have chosen the english language, even tho my oldest's first language was spanish. Somewhere along the way she dropped it but i never stopped speaking to her. All your videos have been sooooo helpful. I use Abeka, never used the Good and the beautiful. I read below there is a comparison in that style. Can you elaborate? She seems to be doing great with Abeka's spiral style. Thanks so much! I appreciate your time.

We’ve not yet used a early learner curriculum for a 2nd language!!! We just did songs, books, Tv and everyday speaking in German at that age. My older kids still watch German Tv but more age appropriate for them!!! My youngest is doing the same!!! The theme of everyday life is awesome!!! The recording is awesome!!! Homeschool languages looks awesome!!! I love doing themed German vocabulary when we do unit studies!!! We used a French curriculum for my daughter that was ment to be for a younger age so she could learn French better!!!

I appreciate this review, as I’ve considered two of these curricula. Do you have an opinion about the Charlotte Mason Simple Spanish? I’m also considering Homeschool Spanish Academy for more real-life conversation practice.
@SevenInAll
@SevenInAll 11 ай бұрын
I don't have experience with Charlotte Mason Simple Spanish, but from what I've seen I think it's most friendly for those who are just beginning their Spanish language learning journey--though there are some 'immersive' elements to it. Homeschool Spanish Academy might be an option if you can commit to scheduled times for the online sessions, and if your kids are old enough to engage with a teacher over the computer. Lots of options--just have to figure out which suits your family's style and needs the best. :)

I am trying to decide which to purchase, any help would be appreciated! My husband and I are fluent Spanish speakers but our 3 year olds don’t speak very much Spanish. Would it be better to go with Homeschool Language or Llamitas? I have also considered Ninos and Nature- any experience with that one?
@SevenInAll
@SevenInAll 10 ай бұрын
I might lean more toward Homeschool Languages in your case, if your child doesn't speak or understand much Spanish, because that program allows you to start from the very beginning. Llamitas could work...but would work better if your child is more of a 'receptive' bilingual--do they understand when you speak to them in Spanish? Are they able to follow instructions in Spanish? Llamitas does have instructions in English as well, but I feel like kids do get more out of that program when they do have some basic language foundation to build off of. If you went with Llamitas, I would recommend going slow and really working on learning to sing the songs and master using vocabulary words. I hope that helps! I'm sorry, I don't have any experience with Ninos and Nature, though I've heard of them!

If anyone has suggestions for something like this in French, I would REALLY appreciate it. I studied French and speak French, but trying to teach French to my pre-reader is proving challenging. I would love a curriculum like one of these to simplify my life AND move past just reading aloud. 😬

for the homeschool languages, do you need to buy the other monthly units separate or are they included in the level you buy?
@SevenInAll
@SevenInAll 3 ай бұрын
The monthly units are something separate--they're something you can opt to use to expand vocabulary into new subject areas, ideally after completing Level 1 or after you have some familiarity with Spanish. They are like "mini" units of their own, I believe each has 4 lessons.

Hi Rachel, do you have any recommendations for Spanish curriculum for high schoolers? My oldest is going in to 9th next year and I need to figure out a foreign language for her. She wants to learn Spanish & I want her to be fluent as she has a natural gift for languages. My SIL is fluent in Spanish as well as my aunt. Both were or are Spanish teachers in the public school, so I am hoping she can be "immersed" in Spanish via talking with them. I would love to know any Spanish curriculums you would recommend for high school!
@SevenInAll
@SevenInAll 5 ай бұрын
I don't have any experience with that level of Spanish curriculum myself, but a bilingual homeschooling friend wrote a great blog post summing up many options, including high school level options: languagelearningathome.com/blog/complete-homeschool-spanish-curriculum-round-up My husband uses the Avancemos textbooks for his Spanish classes and really likes that program, but I don't know if any homeschool curriculum sellers have a homeschool edition. I've heard good things from some families that use BJU press's Spanish--that's a traditional textbook approach that has teaching videos. Rosetta Stone can always be good for fun/extra practice if you can get a good price during a sale, but I feel like it's hard to get a really good understanding of the language using Rosetta Stone alone.

I know you arent an expert, but Im just looking for an idea. My children have articulation issues that they are getting speech therapy for. We are wanting to learn a new langauge as a family, would it be too hard to learn spanish if they struggle to pronounce certian sounds in english their first language.
@SevenInAll
@SevenInAll 7 ай бұрын
Speaking is only one aspect of learning a language (listening, reading, and writing are the other three of the main skills)--so I don't personally think it would make it too hard. Most of the sounds in Spanish exist in English as well, and the Spanish language actually has fewer total sounds than English (it helps that most Spanish letters only make one sound...vs. our English vowels that make so many!) It's likely that sounds that are challenging for them in English will also be challenging for them in Spanish, but I wouldn't let that hold you back.

What kind of Spanish are these curriculums teaching. Is it Mexican Spanish, Central American, South American, or Spanish from Spain?
@SevenInAll
@SevenInAll 5 ай бұрын
None of these teach Spain Spanish, all are primarily aimed at a US demographic and I'd said they have more generally a Latin American Spanish. Llamitas intentionally uses voice artists from several different countries in their audio recordings to offer different accents. I've noticed some notes sometimes on a particular word that will say a different term might be used in such-and-such a region. But overall, the similarities are generally much stronger than the regional differences with the Spanish used in Latin and South America.
