Documenting the remnants & historic locations of long-abandoned ghost towns, Spanish Town & English Camp. Both sites were home to miners of quicksilver in the New Almaden area and were abandoned by the turn of the 20th century, and effectively erased by the army in the 1930's. Now located within a county park (popular hiking destination for Bay Area residents), both former townsites are hidden in plain sight. Join me to check out what is left of both Pre-Gold Rush settlements!

Lots of cars were/are used as expedient erosion control in rivers/creeks/levees. There's video this year of pickups being driven into breached levees at Tulare Lake. I know hundreds of cars were dumped in creeks in the Southbay in the big floods in the '50s as emergency erosion control (couldn't get large rock from quarries due to flooded roads) - know because we sued for a few million for failing to disclose that they knew/authorized dumping vehicles in creeks for a job we did to widen one of the creeks and found millions of tons of debris. They lied and claimed it was all a 'surprise' to them - except the head of the agency started working for the agency the year they dumped the cars and they had mountains of internal documents they 'forgot' to disclose that documented it all. Needless to say, we won the case, the head guy quit in disgrace (he deserved to be jailed) and his minions were demoted as they all lied about it.

You’re correct. See a lot cars disposed this way out in the desert. If the engine, or other important parts are removed, then they were disposed…mainly out of convenience.

At Rancho San Antonio Park there are several old cars in one of the ravines. I asked a Ranger about them and they said most likely stolen cars that were dumped. The cars at RSA range from early 30's to mid 60's. The roads at RSA never went anywhere.

Are you sure they are actually in Oak Hill now. I can't find em. And they don't care for that place like it's an active cemetery. A group of concerned Clampers tried to help restore this site but were shot down repeatedly and given a serious run around. I think there are bodies there, I'd like to get a cadaver dog to check it out. And find where the people are in Oak Hill. Lmk if you get any info on that
