I've always found my spark digital to be too quiet. I rewatched your video and saw the gain thing and it sounds so much better now that I turned its gain up. Thanks for mentioning that!

Great Tutorial and Nice Smooth Voice! I just received this mic as a gift for the Holidays! I'll have to get the right cable and mic stand for my computer. I plan to use this mic for VO work as well as vocals. Questions: First, can the Blue mic stand also screw into a standing mic stand? Second, I have a PC so will the cables I purchase go into a PC laptop? Thank you. Again, great and helpful tutorial!

Thanks so much.. I'm buying this mic tonight.. I hear complaints about hissing but the mic sounds so damn good , I'll chance it.. Also for a mobile musician your comments about the background noise (vs Yeti) were helpful. Does the hiss bother you? Great speaking voice BTW

Can this mic be connected to a mic stand or boom arm? I currently have the blue yeti and I agree it picks up way to much background noise. Its close to my computer and picks up every fan. I'm considering getting the spark or the rode podcaster have you ever reviewed that mic? Great review and you gained a new sub.

Can you use the camera app on the iPhone or iPad while using this microphone? Will the camera app use the mic? I use my iphone or iPad to record ,edit, and upload all of my videos...and Im looking for a good mic for that. GREAT VIDEO!

Really helped to show how the mic blocked out background noise by clicking through the different features as you spoke or moved it around, tapping etc. Showed how well it works.

Great review. How is the latency on this mic when "monitoring" during real time recording? I prefer analog mics due to 0 latency, but I'm considering purchasing this microphone.

It has a separate jack for live monitoring on the lightning cable, which is why I decided to get this mic. Whether there's latency during the actual recording or not, that I'll find out in two days.

Great review. Just one comment: at 2:18 you're not very clear - you say that you get the cables to use both with pc and with mobile devices, yet you state that "when you purchase the product you choose" implying that it's one or the other (30 pin or lightning? like buying android cable headphones instead of normal headphones; Marshall offers this option for instance) - perhaps that's exactly what you meant - when at first I thought that you have both extra cables for mobile devices.

Need an honest opinion I plan on making a really basic home recording studio because as a singer songwriter its just me my vocals and acoustic guitar, I am on the fence between this and the Scarlet focusrite 2i2, I really like the sound of this and feel like this as a mic would be better, within the next couple of months I plan on adding on, with probably a better interface and maybe a better mic but for rite now just to get kick started what do u guys think on this for just VOCAL and acoustic guitar recording ??? lemme know much thanks and GOD BLESS YOU ALL JESUS LOVES YOU :-)

Both the blue spark digital and original have the same internal recording capabilities which means that you would be getting pretty much the same kind of audio. The difference is that the digital is meant more for people who have a home studio kind of set up where you just want a mic to be able to plug into a laptop, where as the original is meant more for studio kind of environments and requires other pieces of equipment in order to get working.

I recently purchased a blue spark digital what would happen if I plugged in a 3.5 millimeter male adapter to xlr male could I plug it in into an xlr input?

No only the usb cable will work.

That should work, it just won't be digital, and you'll need to turn your levels right down because the output signal from the headphone jack will be loud enough to power headphones. Probably better to plug it into a 1/4" or RCA input on your mixer. However the USB still needs to be plugged in to provide power, but you can use an standard USB charging adapter, and plug the provided USB cord into that instead of a computer.

it will reduce background noise significantly but to completely eliminate background noise i use audacity and highly recommend it for editing audio. its free and mac/pc compatible. i did not edit the audio in the video at all, just used its raw recording. typically i do edit with audacity tho.
