Sparky, I am apologizing up front for this LONG post. I just watched part one before this part two. I was raised in Florida. I have seen most of this in person. BUT... I have missed hundreds of details that you pointed out. You are the REAL DEAL ! What a good job of finding, shooting, narrating, and editing ! I almost clicked off in part one when you started with,"I have no plan. I have no hotel. I'm just gonna feel it out." South Florida? This guy isn't worth my time. Boy, was I WRONG ! I was surprised not to see an osprey. I am on a one man mission to restore the rightful name of the butterfly. The butterfly, like killer whales being originally named whale killers, was called for many a millennium a FLUTTER BYE. It got flipped, and butterfly stuck. Lastly... A torrential downpour in Florida is called a "frog strangler." I tapped the thumbs up 👍 button to feed the algorithm monsters, and I am now going back to part 1 to comment and do the same for that clip, too. Thanks for the entertainment.

Hello Francus, Thanks for your kind words! I am a naturalist by training and love pointing out natural history details. Florida is an amazing state in regards to its native Flora and fauna. I really like your mission to change butterfly to flutter by! It makes so much more sense :-) Also, I’ve never heard the term “frog strangler” but very appropriate for the torrential downpours! Thanks again for watching!

My oldest child lives in Palm Beach County, so I love going down and spending a month or so with her and her family around March and April. Been to all the places in your videos and love birding and photographing in Florida. Really enjoy your videos and have been watching the ones on Sax Zim Bog as I'm headed out there this coming June. Hoping to maybe run into you!

Hi Randy! So many cool things to see and photograph in Florida! But like the Sax-Zim Bog in winter, shooting conditions, weatherwise are often tough. Best time to go is April and May for the most rated birds, but winter is great for Herons and Wading birds… If you avoid spring break :-)

From a Florida Herper recently starting birding, love the vids! Here's a few correction on the reptiles the "Black Rat Snake" was just a Black Racer, we do get eastern rat snakes in south Florida but ours are yellow or orange not black. Also the "Green Anole" was actually a Bark Anole(Anolis distichus) so quite possibly a lifer for you and lastly the ones you thought were swifts or fence lizards were also just curly tails, they often don't have the tails curled up.
@SparkyStensaas
@SparkyStensaas 2 ай бұрын
Wow….Thanks for the great info SwampApe!! I appreciate it. Yes, the Bark Anole would be a lifer! Unfortunately, KZfaq doesn’t let you correct things in videos very easily so I guess I’ll have to live with it. Thanks for your input!

@SparkyStensaas

Hi Dory, Yes! I think most of them are banded as fledglings in the state park. Red-cockaded‘s are probably one of the most monitored species in North America. Thanks for watching!
