Hi, It's not an easy question, because it depends of the paint you use. I like Tamiya acrylic and Mr. Color paints. A 60-40 is a good starting point in general. If it's too thin be careful with the pressure on the compressor. Also I like to use paint retarder. Mr Color's leveling thinner is a good choice and it contains retarder as well. @@cslvisualstudio Many thanks - I'll be using the Vallejo Air & Mecha colours, so I've a lot of experimentation ahead. Which end of the psi range were you using for the nice fine line that you showed at the end? I have a bottle of Vallejo retarder on its own plus the Vallejo flow improver plus the their thinners so I'm sure it'll end up as quite a cocktail! I'm nervous of that fine nozzle with the big pigments, my Eclipse handles everything well, and if it wasn't for the 25psi that it insists on having then I'd use it for the finest work, but so close with that much airflow creates problems that I'm trying to avoid with this one which is apparently atomises well at low pressures. I assume a setting at 20psi which will yield approx. 15psi when in use, trigger open.

Hi, 15-20psi sounds good as a starting point. When I try something new, I use drops, for example, six drops of paint, three drops of thinner and a drop of retarder. Middle settings on the compressor. I can see what is not good so that I can change the mixture. Unfortunately, I don't know the pressure because the gauge is broken on my compressor.😊 Practice a lot, and I'm sure you will find the correct settings. Honestly, I have to learn a lot; sometimes, I'm still struggling with the paint job. It's an art, and it's not easy. Good luck, and keep practising... 😉
