In this video I show you different kinds of sparring footwork which are useful for dodging and moving in for a fast attack. The drills show you how to use the footwork to move sideways, forwards and backwards. Once the footwork has been developed the practioner can then add punches and kicks to create useful combination that can be used in sparring.
The video was filmed on grass which was my mistake because the footwork will not be as swift (I was going for a scenic environment). When practising on a hard floor or mats you should get much better results.
My Martial Arts Fitness series of videos cover various types of fitness training such as calisthenics, stretching, weight training, core strength, aerobics and cardio, to help develop the athlete for all types of martial arts.

Thank you again Grandmaster Nardizzi. I have watched many of your tutorials/videos (eventually it will be all of them). I am putting together a new home training plan, and will soon be starting sparring classes (as soon I achieve yellow belt, which will hopefully be next month) so this video came at a perfect time, good variation of movements, just what I was after :) Your videos have really helped me understand many things, and really helped me develop my TKD skills, been watching since February, I always know where to come if I don't quite understand something. I look forward to any future videos, and all the best in your upcoming endeavours, much respect. Darren.

Love your videos Sir! I am just getting back into training after over a decade away from TKD - I obtained my 1st Dan years back but due to unfortunate injury setbacks, it almost made me give up for good. But I've decided to give it another go and I have more passion than ever and although my legs aren't what they used to be... I'm almost 38 now and i'm nowhere near as strong or flexible as I used to be. I try to do some form of training most days, whether it be strength, flexibility & mobility, HIIT, & TKD classes. I've learned to be patient and not push too hard and give my body time to recover when necessary, however it feels like I'm making very little progress since I started back about 4 months ago. I know I'm getting older but do you believe it's possible to obtain full range of motion even with a history of adductor/hamstring problems and do you have any advice for me at this stage? I'd really appreciate any thoughts or advice from you sir. Thanks.

You said it. Be patient, don't push too hard and allow time for recovery. You also said that you are making little progress rather than no progress. This means you ARE making progress and over a long period of time this becomes significant progress. After a 10 year break it may take much longer than 4 months to get your body responding to training like 10 years ago. Progress can accelerate at a later stage if you continue training. Diet is also important. The older you get the less tolerant you become to a diet that is not appropriate for you, which may prevent your body from getting the most from your training . Each person is different and may require a different diet. But knowing what diet is best for you is a complex subject. In a years time, when I reach 60 years old I plan to do special videos on diet and fitness for middle aged people.

@@DonatoNardizzi Thank you Sir. I've been looking at this a little and I know I have increased my protein intake to enhance muscle growth and recovery, but I'm not sure if I need to follow a specific macro plan. I am 5'11" at approx 78 kg, so I am a healthy weight, although I suspect I have some skinny fat. I have a very high metabolic rate. I currently eating 5-6 times a day (some smaller portions) and a caloric surplus but it may not necessarily be the correct balance of macros for my needs? In any case, I'm hoping my increased protein intake is helping rebuild muscle, I guess as you say things might take a lot longer than I expect them to. I hope things come together and I'll be very happy once I start feeling a significant difference. At the moment things are still a bit sluggish and I have to watch with particular range of motions. Better be safe than sorry, I certainly don't want any injuries at this early stage and I'm hoping that rebuilding strength will give me a foundation for increasing my flexibility without injury... Only patience & time will tell I guess. Thanks again.

Good diet is dependant on the individual. It is not just about protein and calorie intake etc, although it is good to monitor this. Sometimes food intolerances can make you sluggish. I find that most people that complain about sluggishness and gut bloating are intolerant to gluten and they don't realise it. Food intolerances can take decades to take a toll on your bodily functions. Some people live their whole life without realising they have an intolerance.

These are horrible (especially when used with that laughable punching - no power). If you move like that when sparring you have no base. Anyone doing this during sparring would have their legs kicked out from under them. Look up Marvin Cook for good footwork drills that actually relate to boxing and MMA/fighting. No power in this garbage.

This is a Taekwon-Do tutorial, why are you talking about Boxing/MMA? They are different martial arts. This is a sparring footwork drill to help mobility when preforming techniques, which is important since most fighters are very static in their movement.

Yes, I agree. I had little power due to my back and knee injury at the time. Also, the footwork is not swift because I made the mistake of doing it on soft grass (which I already mentioned in my description). I delayed releasing this video because I am planning to refilm it on a hard floor to show it properly. But some instructors couldn't wait, so I decided to release it despite not being happy with the quality. The footwork is mailnly for kicking martial arts which require large movements and quick change of direction. I saw the Marvin Cook footwork video you recommended. It is very basic which is ok for boxing but not Taekwon-Do. If you understand anything about kicking martial arts you will appreciate that the types of footwork I show in my video provide a good foundation for more complex footwork.
