Sparta was/is criminally underrated. When ATDI split it felt like the Mars Volta got all the attention and both critics and music fans either had no clue who these guys were or dismissed them without much of a listen... Don't get me wrong, the Mars Volta are awesome. Great band, and I can appreciate the more artsy fartsy direction the afro-squad decided to take, but Sparta is straight forward, intelligent, and even catchy, heavy indie rock. So glad At The Drive-In got back together and put out a surprisingly badass album.

Christ, I haven't thought about this song in ages, but At the Drive-in reunion news reminded me of Sparta, who I could never really get into. The proggier half of ATDI was always more my speed. I remember when this song had just come out! I suddenly feel a bit old. The fact that 2007 was 5 years ago is really weirding me out right now.

I wasn't a big fan of the movie, though, mainly because I loved the book The Invisible, and the movie was so incredibly different. Forcing a romance between "Nick" (he's called Hilmer in the book) and Annie is strange because in the book, Annie was a skinhead who doesn't regret what she did.
