I have a hybrid too!! old school SPD 20 .... I have to say I use it for very simple things, but there is a huge potential, I have three external triggers and it's so much fun to suddenly hit it and see some confused people that do not know where the sound is coming from hahahaha.

Another great video man. You are forgiven for the slightly out of focus camera, as I've been starting KZfaq the pas couple of months it's a lot of thing to keep on top of! You are essentially a drummer, engineer, mixer, teacher, camera man and video editor all at the same time! Love your videos especially the SPD-SX ones. I finally picked up some RT-30 triggers and have just posted a video about using them!

Great teaching man! I love your reflections and explanations. Extremely useful. I am a drummer already and I'm trying to learn how to pay a SPD-SX atm so it's so exiting to learn these things on how to combine them when playing songs.

I like this setup many ways to go about incorporating samples.Tim has another video on how to setup the timing of samples coming in....Thanks Tim...thought I needed new glasses just kidding. I am uploading music now, check us out at St Barger Hill...peace my friend 🙏

Great video again, thanks Tim! Question: how to remember during live gigs on which pad which sample is stored when you use a lot of sound effects like hand claps etc.? Do you have a system or use labels? And how to deal with different SPD kits?

I have a rough idea of where I place which types of sounds. The lower left two pads are always kick drums. Tracks are the top left pad. Shares are always middle row the right two pads. So things like that really help. But if I’m in a pinch (last minute gig couldn’t prepare much for) I’ll label with tape what each pad is. I think the most important thing is picking a system to roughly go by and then rock that for anything you load on. Haha

Hm - not totally sure. I've never had that happen. What you might try to do is do a full back up of your SPD-SX and then reformat the SPD and load all your kits back on and see if that cleans it up.

Hi Tim, New member , i was amaze with your technique and i realy lilke the location you fix the Spd-sx . The sound you have, the snare on p-9 in the begining, did you pick this in i whant that sound .com , cause it make me freaking out, this is what i search , love it and i love the tom sound when you done a riff to go to your kit. Hey Allen! Thanks so much for the kind words. I honestly can't remember where I got those sounds but it is either from iwantthatsound or a sample I've created or used with an artist I've toured with.

Just depends on what type of samples you are looking for.I really like the Nir Z and Aaron Sterling stuff for more practical/realistic samples. But "future" and "organic" have a ton of cool sample things to choose from.

Hey man, thanks for the reply. Mainly working on getting some more, as you say ‘practical’ sounds. Working on building up more acoustic and electric samples for using the spd as a solo instrument. Thanks for your help!!
