All fish were of legal size and were speared for consumption. I abide by catch size limits, daily takes and no fish zones. Over the past 6 years I have made the commitment to no longer buy fish, so I only eat the fish I catch. Spearfishing is the most sustainable form of fishing on the planet, it is also the most environmentally friendly form of fishing when practiced well.

I did all my scuba training from entry to instructor in Indonesia and dived all over the place for years. Indonesia was just always something else with the currents. It’s not just the power of the current but the structure of it. Some places you’ll have one current running along one side of a reef point, then meeting a current running along the other side, add to that a dirty lukewarm downcurrent coming off the reef top and meeting an unexpected seasonal ice cold upwelling from 700 metres down and you’re in business. That’s when you see even the fish confused and pointing in all directions and the soft corals whacking about like morning hair in a tornado. I’ve been on dives in ol’ Indo where I’d watch my bubbles would go up, move sideways, go up again, move the other way and then get pushed back down, twirled around and then back up again.. I’ve seen the tidal current arrive with such sudden force that it looked like invisible fist the size of schoolbuses hammering their rounded imprint into schools of unexpecting damsel fish. And then of course there are the dives where you just have to climb back up the reef wall with the current in your face trying to rip the mask off your head or the reg from your mouth while your bubbles disappear below you - or the odd time when enter calm seas and come up out of a whirlpool with sudden volcanic dust from somewhere falling everywhere on mounting waves and all the fishing boats darting for the nearest beach. Good times xD🤘 I go to other places and people will say, “careful this place can have a pretty crazy current” and we get in it’s like “so - when does the crazy begin?”

I can relate this in combination of seeing my brothers shooting birds as recreational during holiday and when me and Dad used to go fishing and I used to dive to get the fish out of the fish net wearing with a hand made goggles by my dad(can’t stay very long under water coz my goggles easily filled up with water!) 😅😅😅 wonderful memories🥰🥰😍😍And now it’s all coming back to me now seeing your videos! What the heck you’re living with it!😅😅 more videos please!!! Im hooked!👌👍😍😅

I think my favorite fish to look at is the queen triggerfish, Actinopterygii Balistidae! I don't know that is is the craziest in the ocean but I would put it up there.

That fish is a beauty! Looks like a tasty morsel. Here in Oregon we catch a lot of halibut and ling. Both very toothy critters. Look them up. You will be amazed.

BTW, here in Hawaii we make 'Poke' with octopus & its called Tako Poke. Tako is Japanese for octopus. But we pound the tako first so it is not rubbery...

Thank you! Just in a hard case and declare as fishing equipment, sometimes they will want to inspect other times they dont. You dont need a fishing permit here but you do need approval to fish the reef from local reefs and go with a local guide

Don’t know if it’s just me but you put 50lb. And up in a cooler with ice pull the drain plug keep it in the shade just keep adding ice but make sure there’s no standing water for a week the meat gets better I think

Yeah for sure but that ice cooler is a salvaged one with a decent hole in it used just for storing items. There isnt ice anywhere to be found for miles close to these islands
