I literally run an MSI R290 Gaming Edition card until 2020 and it was still doing well when I replaced it. It was an excellent purchase that held up well. The R290 actually had several improvements and unlocks with software/drivers and got better over time. It just eventually aged out. I still have the card. It isn't worth anything now. I should have sold it during the GPU shortage but I wanted to keep it just in case. I could plug it in and use it until I could get a new one even now. I wouldn't like it, but it'll play most games still today.

I don't sell my graphics cards and like you, I could have done so during the GPU drought, but I chose not to. The AMD R9 290 or the 290X are two GPUs that I highly value, in fact the one I still don't have in my collection is the 295 x2. I loved this R9 2xx series, despite having had some problems related to consumption and high temperatures. They are the same incredible GPUs that have a long life ahead of them. We can still use a Retro Gaming PC as AMD still has good drivers for older operating systems. WIsh you a great week.

Fan speed has never bothered me while im gaming. I have headphones on and cant hear the fans. Now this card has loud fans. the loudest i have heard.

Hello there. If you are talking about the R9 290 stock cooler you are 100% correct. That cooler is the loudest cooler that passed by my Gpu history, but this One on specific from Sapphire is super quiet, at least this sample I have. Wish you a great weekend.

my card amd radeon 290 got heat up somehow. Now when he load up the drivers its give black screen and hang up

Very sorry to read that. Try and search for someone who can repairs GPUs wherr you live. Maybe its a easy solution (not my understanding, sorry). Wish you a great week ahead.

Good Old Games : the R9 290(X) ages like a fine red wine....whereas the puny GTX 780 3GB (and that hybrid 2 cluster 6GB) isn't able to run games any more.

@@GoodGoldGames I hope you enjoy it....I used to briefly own an MSI R9 290X 8GB Gaming 8G....and let me tell you, that cooler was able to handle that card properly with just at 80°C max....which is great considering the design....i regretted selling it and went and bought my self a healthy use Gigabyte R9 390 8GB G1 Gaming which I still own today and play with from time to time because if on a Ryzen 7 5800X3D cpu, it plays modern games very well @1080p Ultra (minus the Antialiasing).

Tenías sujeta la pc? No se como no 🛫, es horrible la ventilación que llevaba de casa, no has comentado su consumo? Es lo más negativo que tiene, yo tengo una r9 270x y no va mal, pero tengo ganas de conseguir una r9 290 a ver si consigo una a buen precio, aunque debido a su consumo no se si mi fuente de alimentación será la adecuada.

Hola, estoy usando Google Translate para responderte. :) Por el momento sólo tengo (y todavía uso) el sistema con AMD R7 5800 X3D, ya que todavía es capaz de ofrecer buenos fps y soportar las últimas tarjetas (aunque estoy pensando en la próxima actualización). En cuanto al consumo, la tarjeta tiene un TDP de 275 Watts, y podéis ver en el vídeo, por ejemplo en el minuto 04:56, que la tarjeta consume alrededor de 170 Watts. Una buena fuente de alimentación de 650/700 vatios es capaz de manejar tu sistema (pero hay que tener en cuenta la cantidad de discos, ventiladores, luces RGB, etc., ya que todo esto pesa sobre la fuente de alimentación). Les deseo un buen fin de semana y una buena semana por delante.
