Another Scorned Magnamalo falls prey to my Sacred wrath.
So I had a few faster runs such as 7:21 but since I'm a stupidly stubborn person I kept doing this quest over and over and over for two entire days just to get a run where I land every single Spirit Release Slash on a weakspot.
...and that run still ended up slower than my fastest despite that lmao.
Anyways. Another one of my best runs still. I absolutely love this matchup. Wanted to go back to Courage Hammer for Scorned but decided to do LS again.
I did a few mistakes especially during the second phase, bad timing on my counters for the double paw slams for example but otherwise this was a really smooth encounter.
I can really avoid a good chunk of its attacks with Evasion 4 and activate status trigger for a good 3k on its armblades.

2,278 damage from Wyvern Ride wallbang, which I believe is supposed to be 1% of the monster’s overall HP, so a whopping 227,800 HP in this fight.

I’m pretty sure each anomaly core does 1% of the monsters health which in this case would be 202,500 total hp from a 2,025 core explosion. Still a fuckton of health tho.

Very cool seeing a run using Frostcraft Sacred Sheath. It's such a fun and different method of playing LS, and the way you maintained your spirit guage was beautiful

Great run. I'm an LS main, and this is my preferred way of playing, Sacred Sheath. I learned alot from this, thank you. I'm surprised you only got one knockdown during this hunt, though🤔

If you mean knocking down Scorned Magnamalo out of its hellfire blades mode, it's impossible to do against the Afflicted individuals, except in extremely rare circumstances: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/q7xmqpeYrtnYpYk.html

@Dynamo_Lynn interesting. I meant just being toppled. Typically, after a certain amount of damage, accumulation the monster topples over, and I saw you doing massive damage at that, and it only toppled once. I guess that's a norm with much stronger and higher level monsters?

@@ToraXII This is only if you damage the back legs of a monster (Rathian, Gold Rathian, Diablos, Zinogre etc) or break a certain part (Gore family wing arms, Mizutsune head etc), or rare damage-based topples such as Nargacuga on its head (can only happen once when it's near death) or state-related topples (damaging two supercharged parts of Astalos) etc. There's a lot of specifics, but in the case of Scorned Magnamalo there are no topples from damaging its head or its arm blades (when afflicted). The only topples you get are from KOs, riding, and exhaust bursts on the afflicted ones. And maybe if you damage its back legs but I doubt it, I've never seen it nor tried it since they're bad hitzones.

one of the things I'm most curious about is how you were dodging/evading while in what looks like a charging Iai Slash mode. That was probably the most interesting thing I've seen in a MH game. The run was beautifully done and very smooth too.

This is what Sacred Sheathe LS is. It's about charging your spirit gauge and sheathing infinitely until you release a powerful combo. You're able to stay on the move while sheathing by doing evasion steps forward, back, left or right.

Favourite playstyle of all gen! I'm glad they added this and hope the keep or improve it in the next gen. Prop to you sir as always for pulling out such a badass run! With Goldian(10%), Critical draw 3(60%) and Wex 2(30%) already made the releash slash 100% crit right? The rest of the skills like crit eye 2 and another point in wex is just for sakura slash? Also how the difference between EW 3 and 4 or even 5? Sorry for many questions but you've been my inspiration since I found you when Rise came out on Console. Asking from you directly makes me feel more confident about the answer! Happy Hunting 🎉❤

I try my best to answer every question people may have :) Yes, I mainly max out Weakness Exploit to get a bit more damage out of the Sakura Slash spam. The Sacred Sheathe LS dodges have built-in evasion, something like Evasion 3 probably, but using the Evasion skill stacks with that on top. I don't have precise data but I mainly use Evasion 4 for comfort, as it allows me to not have to do ultra tight dodges to trigger Adrenaline Rush/Status Trigger. Evasion 4+ the good amount of built-in i-frames of the dodges gives you about 0.5 if not slightly more invincibility.

It's Moldarach and Koloktos' theme from The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. I found Koloktos had a pretty similar color palette and vibe with its giant swords as Scorned Magnamalo, so I decided to use its theme in this run.

Not long to be fair, since I play so much I have a thousand or more of each Amber Essences, at maximum it takes me ~30 rolls before I get something I really need. Those augments on the Velkhana pieces I have them since TU4 though.

I'm about mid as a LS user so I'm pretty unfamiliar with a lot of the new mechanics introduced in Sunbreak. Is the manual sacred sheathe parry really so forgiving? Does Evade Window increase the parrying frames?

It's not that forgiving but also it is. If you get the timing correct you keep your current charge and go into spirit slash III (or whatever) to go into your next lvl of charge. If you miss the timing you lose one level of charge but you still perform the parry either way. Manually letting it go to parry is how you do it but the automatic parry when hit is nice. It's great for "tanking" monsters ultimates

Use Mail of Hellfire 3 and use the Red Scroll. By not using Dereliction and Bloodlust you are missing on 20% affinity and at least 25 more raw from the Resentment skill.

You mean draw attack like step slash? You rarely Regular sheath as ls so it doesn't really matter. If you're talking about spirit roundslash vs reckoning, for sacred sheath style, roundslash is simply faster, easier to hit monster o gain spirit level and safer to do.

That's not true. The Sacred Sheathe hops do have built-in I-frames. The Evasion skill just stacks with those.

I don't know why it never registered for me that the little hops you do while in Sacred Sheath mode count as dodges and can be affected by Evade Extender, learn something new every day!

@@dynamo_lynn The sacred sheath parries are like valor LS, Sakura Slash is like… Sakura slash. Your play style here seems very spatially aware and careful, methodical, and patient. With minimal foresight slashing and standard counter draw slashing, I’m just seeing a lot of Valor LS in this, lol. (The “Valor dodge” sidesteps are also like the sacred sheathe sidesteps, but that’s more generalized) The video had the feel of watching someone use Valor LS to solo an EX Deviant. I feel like I can recognize it in watching it, lol. Also you basically never use wirebugs other than for Sakura Slash, and never used switch skill swap. I don’t even know if you’re using Harvest Moon or Serene Pose, lol. Kinda used your wirebugs like Hunter Arts, where you only have one for Valor style.

@@TheLordGojira I have never used Valor LS. I don't like playing weapons and/or playstyles that feel overwhelmingly easy to play for too big of a reward, so I always avoided Valor LS and played Striker LS instead. While LS in this game has parries that are just as easy to land, I'm simply a huge fan of the Sacred Sheathe playstyle, as it is the closest LS has to what would conventionally be a "heavy" weapon or something like Hammer ; charge levels, release slow but extremely strong combo.
