Special Reoperation of Kalamata Depot

During the special temporary reoperation of Kalamata-Messini line in the second half of September, the central depot of southern Hellas in Kalamata saw some of its old glory. Trains moving again on its rails and people working under its roof again. Next to the MAN1 DMUs that were going to serve the suburban line, the old rulers of the meter gauge line...the glory of Peloponnese now forgoten and stored in the depot. Some others are rusting at the sidings. However, the sound of the engine in the building makes the railfan to imagine and hope for the best...
In this video you are going to see the preperations on the trains for the first train of this year's event and as well as some of the museum trains that are stored at Kalamata depot (mostly you will see those stabled into the main building). In the next video you are going to see shots from the line and te trains that ran on it for 9 days.

Αν άνοιγαν πάλι οι πόρτες αυτών των τρένων με τη βαλίτσα μου στο χέρι ευχαρίστως θα έκανα ξανά και ξανά αυτό το ταξίδι. Αθήνα Καλαμάτα... κι ας κάνει 6 ή 8 ώρες...!!!

Cela me rappelle mes meilleurs souvenirs de voyages autour du péloponnèse (2001-2002) et particulièrement le chaleureux acceuil en gare de Corinthe par l'équipe qui était en place. Merci pour ce moments magique !

Επτά χρόνια έχουν περάσει από τότε που έκλεισαν όλη η Ελλάδα χρησιμοποιεί το τρένο εμείς πότε θα το δούμε να δουλεύει ξανά?

Μπορεί αυτά ΟΣΕ να χρησιμοποιήσει ξανά σε καιρό πολέμου. Από τι έχω μάθει ο ΟΣΕ νομίζω της παλιές γραμμές κάποιες τις κρατάει σε περίπτωση που γίνει πόλεμος να τις ξανά λειτουργήσει. Τώρα δεν ξέρω εάν αυτό ισχύει για τα παλια τρένα του ΟΣΕ.

+NICK SAVAGE Ευχαριστούμε. Αν και αν τυχόν λειτουργήσει η γραμμή της πελοποννήσου με τακτικά υπεραστικά τραίνα, η πλέον σύγχρονη και κατάλληλη Α/Α για ταχεία είναι η ΜΑΝ4/IC. Τέλος πάντων...

+The Hellenic Trainspotters Ναι εχειs απολυτο δικιο.Αν και η τελευταια προμηθεια τροχαιου υλικου για την μετρικη γραμμη στην ελλαδα εγινε το 2001-2002 με τιs Α/Α Stadler γνωστεs ευρυτερα ωs Railbus Σε μια φιλοδοξη τοτε προσπαθεια αναστασηs- επαναλειτουργιαs των ΣΒΔΕ.H οποια δυστυχωs δεν ηταν τιποτα παραπανω απο μια προεκλογικη φιεστα για λογουs καθαρα επικοινωνιακουs υπουργου τηs τοτε κυβερνησηs σημιτη.Οσο για τιs Α/Α ΜΑΝ Κατασκευαστηκαν το 1990 και πιστευω οτι μπορουν για πολλα ακομα χρονια να προσφερουν με ανεση και ασφαλεια τιs υπηρεσιεs στον κοσμο.Το τροχαιο υλικο παραμενει και μπορει αμεσα να χρησιμοποιηθει στα σημερινα δεδομενα.Η θεληση μονο λειπει απο τουs αρμοδιουs.Οραματισου αλεξ σε κανα 2 χρονια να τραβατε ληψειs απο τα μαγευτικα τοπια τηs πελλοπονησου και να περνανε ξανα οι A/A MAN-STADLER.Η μοναδικη ποια GANZ-MAVAG.Και γιατι οχι η LINKE HOFFMAN Που ειναι πανω στο βελεστινο και η DE DIETRICH αν ειναι σε λειτουργικη κατασταση ακομα.Ουτοπικη σκεψη του κερατα?Ισωs.Τουλαχιστον μπορουμε να ονειρευομαστε ακομα.

Ξέρουμε αν σήμερα το 2020 το μηχανοστασιο της Καλαμάτας έστω υπολειτουργεί; τι τρένα έχει μέσα, αν ο χωρος φυλαγεται με αποτέλεσμα να διατηρούνται σε καλη κατασταση και αν τους γίνεται κάποια συντήρηση;

+Jean-François Meysman Hello my friend! You guessed right about the operation of the line. Kalamata-Messini route is opened every year for 10 days to cover the popular bazzar of Messini. Most of the visitors choose the trains for their transport in stead of the bus, which means that the resident of the two cities want the train back to their region. However, the government and the municipality of Kalamata show to all of us their indefference. The Ganz-Mavag railcar has only some problems at its electric parts that are going to be repaired during the following months according to the words of the depot's workers.

Έχω μια ερώτηση. Τα τρένα το μπλέ αυτό που πήγαινε Αθήνα Χαλκίδα και από Χαλκίδα Αθήνα αυτά λειτουργουν.και δεν λέω για το προστιακο

Αν κατάλαβα καλά εννοείς το MAN 621 2005 αυτά έχουν κλείσει 15 ετια. Λόγο της ηλεκτροκινησης στην Αθήνα αυτά εκτοπιστηκαν από την Αθήνα και από τις γύρω περιοχές. Αυτά τώρα κάνουν τα δρομολογια Παλαιοφαρσαλος-Καλαμπακα, Θεσσαλονίκη-Φλώρινα, Θεσσαλονίκη-Αλεξανδρουπολη, Αλεξανδρουπολη-Ορμενιο, Λάρισα-Βόλος και πιο παλιά έκαναν τη διαδρομή Θεσσαλονίκη-Κοζανη μέχρι και το 2010.

Hello Werner, Kalamata Depot is the central maintenance base of Peloponnesian network after the cut off of Piraeus Depot. The line Kalamata-Messini operated since 2013 3 times, but this year due to severe damages which were cause by the heavy rain and floods the line remained closed. However, the technisians of Kalamata refurbished and fully operated 3 MAN1 DMUs which were in terrible condition in 2012. They also try to repair the airbrakes and the main engine of Ganz Mavag DMU but the lack of funds is the main problem to their job.
